The Merry Gentlemen is a Netflix original romantic comedy slated to hit the streaming platform this festive season. The Merry Gentlemen stars Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray in the leading roles.

Director Peter Sullivan has helmed the production of the film which was written by Marla Sokoloff. The film aims to be the perfect Christmas movie to go with your Christmas tree and festive lights.

The Merry Gentlemen follows Ashley, played by Britt Robertson, who makes a last attempt to save her parents' perfomance art center by organizing an all-male Christmas style revue.

The film is slated to release on November 20, 2024, just in time to be included in Netflix's festive palate which includes other titles such as Our Little Secret and Meet Me Next Christmas.

What is The Merry Gentlemen all about?

At the center of the conflict in The Merry Gentlemen is the Rhythm Room, a small town performance art center that is on the ropes and unable to keep up with the foundation costs.

In order to mitigate this and ward her parents from the problem at hand, Ashley, an otherwise big-city dancer, takes it upon herself to somehow keep the Rhythm Room standing.

In order to collect funds, she enlists the help of a few boys and organizes an all-male Christmas styled revue. The dancing event brings Luke (Chad Michael Murray), a contractor, in close connection with Ashley.

Britt Robertson opened up to Tudum by Netflix while describing her character. She said:

"My character, Ashley, decides to take her skill as a dancer and choreographer and marries that with some hot dudes at the bar to make The Merry Gentlemen show. She may or may not save the bar."

Speaking about her reason to committ to this particular story, Robertson commented that she felt that the story related to her in a deeply personal way.

Robertson is fond of Christmas with it's bright lights and festive air and she usually spends her Christmas in Los Angeles with other near and dear ones who are there in the city. She added:

"When I read the script, I was like, ‘This is my kind of Christmas movie!’ I didn’t even have to do any of the burlesque. I get to just watch a bunch of very talented dudes do it."

As the role involves meticulous dancing moves, Murray underwent significant training to make his dancing chops as flawless as possible for the cameras. Speaking about his rehearsals, he added:

"It was something that I’d never done. I said, ‘Oh, this scares the crap out of me. I’ve got to do this,’. I made a bunch of phone calls and said, ‘Let’s get in as much rehearsal time as possible. If you’re going to do it, you got to do it right. You got to go all in. All the guys were awesome, there was definitely a bond there. Everybody just helped each other up. And everyone else had a different gift to give to the film."
