The Life List cast and character guide: Who plays whom in the Netflix film?

A young woman goes on a journey of self-discovery in The Life List, an upcoming romance drama starring Sofia Carson and Connie Britton. It will debut on Netflix on March 28, 2025, but judging by its trailer, it might be right up your alley if you like life-affirming movies like Julia Roberts' Eat Pray Love or Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

As per its official synopsis, the film follows Alex trying to fulfill the "life list" of goals she wrote down when she was 13 years old. She does so at the request of her deceased mother, Elizabeth. It becomes almost like a second coming of age for her since she experiences character growth in her adulthood. In that context, it is similar to Greta Gerwig's Frances Ha.

The Life List is written and directed by Adam Brooks, who has previously helmed lighthearted dramedies like Definitely, Maybe, and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The Life List is an adaptation of Lori Nelson Spielman's novel by the same name. Sofia Carson plays Alex while Connie Britton plays Elizabeth. The central cast also includes Kyle Allen, Sebastian De Souza, and José Zúñiga.

Sofia Carson plays Alex, a spirited young woman, who enters an exciting journey to achieve goals she once hoped she would. Carson was recently seen in Taron Egerton's Carry On and is popular for her role in Disney's Descendents television film series, and Netflix's Purple Hearts.

2) Connie Britton as Elizabeth

Life List stars Connie Britton as Elizabeth, Alex's mother and the matriarch of the Rose family, who ran the operations of a well-established beauty brand. Upon her unfortunate death, she leaves Alex with a series of DVDs to help her achieve her goals. Britton has worked in Hollywood for over three decades. She recently starred in Robert De Niro's Zero Day, and will soon be seen in Benito Skinner's Overcompensating.

3) Sebastian de Souza as Dr Garrett Taylor

In an Instagram post, Sebastian de Souza describes his character of Garrett as:

"Smart as a whip. Cool as a cucumber."

Garrett is Alex's love interest, who helps her cross an item off her life list. De Souza has previously starred in Fair Play, a psychological workplace thriller, led by Bridgerton-fame, Phoebe Dynevor.

4) Kyle Allen as Brad

Kyle Allen plays Brad, a young lawyer assigend to oversee Alex's journey of working on her life goals. Allen's previous roles include Balkan in Steven Speilberg's West Side Story and Mark in The Map of Tiny Perfect Things.

5) José Zúñiga as Samuel

José Zúñiga stars as Alex's estranged father Samuel, who raised her as a child. They reconnect while Alex works through her wish list. Zúñiga was recently seen in Sofia Vergara's Griselda and Rose Byrne's Physical.
