The King of Kings, starring Oscar Isaac, bags a record opening weekend on BO charts. As per reports at Deadline, the film is anticipated to make up to $17.6 million in the debut weekend.

In the genre of animated films of themes centering around devotion such as The King of Kings, this would mark as a historic record as the most successful initial weekend, even surpassing the iconic animated film of 1998 on Prophet Moses, The Prince of Egypt by DreamWorks Pictures. Upon its launch weekend, it had garnered $14.5 million.

Actor Oscar Isaac voices the role of Jesus Christ in the film. Along with Isaac, the film includes a star cast of actors, including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamill, Pierce Brosnan, Roman Griffin Davis, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, and many more, who are lending their voices to the characters.

Directed by Seong-ho Jang, it follows the plot of a father and son, where the legendary author Charles Dickens unfolds the story of Jesus Christ to his young son Walter. The film follows with what happens in the young boy's mind after hearing those stories.

As per reports at Deadline, The King of Kings is expected to make a record of $17.6 million upon its opening this weekend.

As per Screenrant, this would surpass the launch weekend collection of not only The Prince of Egypt but also other animated films of similar themes, such as Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie (2002), which had made up to $6.2 million, and also The Star (2017), which had garnered up to a collection of $9.8 million in their opening weekend.

As per reports at Variety, The King of Kings has garnered a total of $14.6 million in the advanced purchasing of the tickets. The production house of the film, Angel Studios, also has a system of 'Pay-It-Forward.' This system enables people to buy tickets for anybody else, even for a person whom they do not know.

According to Box Office Mojo, the Friday collection of the film has been up to $7,010,275. In its CinemaScore rating, The King of Kings has reached a new milestone as it has scored upto a whopping A+.

Films released with The King of Kings, that is, The Amateur, are expected to garner up to $15 million in their opening weekend. Meanwhile, Drop is predicted to make up to $7.7 million, and for Warfare, it is $8 million, as per Deadline.

The Golden Globe-winning actor Oscar Isaac, who essays the role of Jesus Christ in the film, had also starred in a faith-oriented film back in 2006 named The Nativity Story, where he essayed the role of Joseph.

Oscar Isaac is widely recognized for his notable work in films and series including Robin Hood (2010), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), A Most Violent Year (2014), Ex Machina (2015), Show Me A Hero (2015), the Star Wars film franchise (2015-2019), Annihilation (2018), Dune (2021), Moon Knight (2021), and many more.
