The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Release date, plot speculations, cast and more

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will kick off Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be set in a retro-futuristic world. The film is a reboot of The Fantastic Four franchise.

Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, and Vanessa Kirby are going to be part of the iconic superhero team. The Ofiice's Ralph Michael Ineson will be playing Galactus, the antagonist. All the Fantastic Four members will be up against the cosmic entity trying to take over the earth.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming in 2025

The film is under production and is slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2025. It was initially decided that The Fantastic Four: New Steps would be released in May 2025 but then swapped places with Thunderbolts, which was first scheduled to be released on this date.

What do we know about the plot of The Fantastic Four: First Steps?

There are not a lot of details about the plot of The Fantastic Four: First Steps' but the team will try to stop the threat Galactus poses to the Earth. Silver Surfer is confirmed to appear alongside the cosmic being too. All the events will occur on a different timeline that will tie right to the upcoming Avengers movies.

The official synopsis of the plot reads,

Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet.

Given that it is taking place in an alternate timeline, the concept of incursions might come to fruition. Following that Marvel has broken ties with Jonathan Majors who played Kang the Conqueror, it is unlikely that the film will include any elements from the Quantum Realm. Previously, some leaks suggested that the Fantastic Four members get their powers from there.

Galactus will be one of the antagonists in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Apart from that a supervillain namely Mole Man will appear, however, there are no details as to who will be playing the role.

Cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps

The reboot will see Pedro Pascal playing the intelligent scientist Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), while Vanessa Kirby will play his wife, Sue Storm (Invisible Woman). The other two actors on the team, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, play Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing).

As for the antagonists, Ralph Insen is playing Galactus and Julia Garner will be seen as Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Other cast members include Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, Sarah Niles, and more who will appear in roles undisclosed at the time of writing.

Matt Shakman, director of WandaVision, is taking the directorial lead in the film after beating Michael Matthews and Reid Carolin to this race. Given the success of the Marvel Studios TV show, the film is expected to be a visual treat for the fans.
