Marvel's first family came to light with the first The Fantastic Four: First Steps teaser yesterday and we finally got to see the new team in action. Fans might be looking for Easter eggs and some of them might also be thinking about the characters who are to appear in the film.
As confirmed, the events of the film will take place during the 60s in a different timeline, but everything will ultimately connect to the events leading to the upcoming Avengers films. It will be the 37th MCU film while serving as a second reboot of Fantastic Four.
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach were confirmed to be in the lead. The film features more actors but not all of them were revealed in the latest teaser. Let's take a look at the ones confirmed for the retro-futuristic action and guess the ones who are still to be revealed.
All the confirmed cast and characters in The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic
First up in The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the family head Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal. Also known as Mister Fantastic, the character has some serious stretching skills. The last time we saw a version of Richards, Wanda opened him up like a ribbon before popping his head.
Pascal rose to prominence with his role of Oberyn Nymeros Martell, aka the Red Viper, in Game of Thrones. Later he appeared in Narcos as Javier Pena and now people are loving him as Joel Miller in the TV adaptation of The Last of Us.
Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman
Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Vanessa Kirby is the fourth actress portraying the character in movies with Rebecca Staab, Jessica Alba, and Kate Mara having previously appeared in the role.
The English actress recently appeared in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One as White Widow and will be a part of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning too.
Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch
When we hear Johnny Storm, Chris Evans comes to our minds. Now it's Joseph Quinn who is taking up this mantle in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The actor is known for his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things. He also appeared alongside Pedro Pascal in Gladiator II (2024).
Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Brimm, aka The Thing
Ebon Moss-Bachrach got a piece of advice from Mark Ruffalo to play The Thing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as Ebon is bringing the character to life using motion capture. Mark told him that,
"Make scenes like normal scene work."
Many may not know this but this will be Ebon's second appearance in a Marvel project. He has appeared as David "Micro" Lieberman in The Punisher. Interestingly, Jon Bernthal is reprising as the Punisher in the MCU too.
Ralph Ineson as Galactus
Ineson is known for his voice roles in video games like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Diablo IV, and Final Fantasy XVI. Now he is bringing this talent in a major role where he will be portraying Galactus The Fantastic Four: First Steps. We just got a glimpse of the character in the teaser, which, to fans' surprise, was smaller than he is usually depicted.
The actor has also appeared in some notable roles, a couple of which include Nikolai Tarakanov in Chernobyl and Chris Finch in The Office.
Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, aka Silver Surfer
Silver Surfer didn't appear in the trailer but Julia Garner is confirmed to play the role in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. She will appear as the Shalla-Bal version of Silver Surfer, who is the lover of Norrin Rodd in the comics.
Garner garnered major recognition for her portrayal of Ruth Langmore in Ozark. Other than that, she has appeared in a number of films like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wolf Man, Grandma, and more.
Unconfirmed roles in The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The first confirmed appearance with an unconfirmed role would be John Malkovich, who appeared in The Fantastic Four: First Steps teaser as an old man. From what we know, he is very likely playing Ivan Kragoff, aka the Red Ghost, in the film.
Paul Walter Hauser is in the film too, and so are the rumors of Mole Man. Both are kind of comic so we may see him end up portraying the character. Other actors who are still to be confirmed in their roles include Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles.
