Amazon Prime Video's latest psychological thriller adaptation, The Calendar Killer, is now streaming. The Calendar Killer, which is Der Heimweg in German, is directed by Adolfo J. Kolmerer. He is known for his work in films and TV series including Unplugged (2015), Snowflake (2017), Abikalypse (2019), and The Island (2020). This time he has come up with a movie adaptation of one of the most prominent writers of Germany, Sebastian Fitzek's 2020 successful novel Der Heimweg (Walk Me Home in English translation), The Calendar Killer (2025).

Set in Berlin, The Calendar Killer is a story that follows the events happening in one single night, when Jules, who works at a helpline center that primarily assists women in hostile situations, receives a call from a fear-stricken Klara one night, claiming that her life is in danger due to the notorious female murderer 'The Calendar Killer.'

Klara tells Jules that she has been left with choosing between either taking the life of Martin—her husband—or losing her life to The Calendar Killer, as per the final warning Klara claims to have received. As the night progresses, many revelations about Klara's past trauma and her strained marriage with her dominating husband Martin are uncovered, and Jules fights the race against time to save Klara whilst striving to help and support her in her increasing trepidation and uncovering the truth about the killer, all at the same time.

One primary distinguishing feature of this particular set of killings by this murderer is that the Calendar Killer leaves behind a text written in blood at the homicide scene, which reads the date of the victim's death. Klara receives something like that under the photo of her and Martin in her basement, which reads "6.12. Him or you" with a cross symbol.

The Calendar Killer is an absorbing, exciting film and is an absolute hair-raiser that explores the psychological journey of Klara and is bound to take the viewers to unexpected places by the end.
