It tells the story of the Herdman siblings, who are somewhat of a black sheep in society. They don't abide by any rules, so chaos follows. But there is always a silver lining to something bad, which slowly unfolds and makes Christmas jolly for all.

On one holiday, the Herdmans find themselves in a church, thanks to free treats in a Christmas pageant hosted by Grace Bradley (Judy Greer). But then the town knows them, and everybody is concerned about what kind of foul play these naughty children may bring with them.

Grace volunteers to be the host as Mrs. Armstrong (Mariam Bernstein), who usually hosts the event, breaks her legs and is unable to host it. This can be deemed a point where the redemption for the Herdmans comes into play. While others suggest Grace get rid of them from the pageant, she offers them a chance to be on the good side.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is told from the point of view of a narrator, Judy Greer, who ends up stealing the show. Most of that is because she sees the caliber in those children that the town has ignored while maintaining its status as a society. Currently, the film sits fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 92%.
