Jason Statham: The Beekeeper 2: Everything we know about the Jason Statham action thriller sequel

Jason Statham is all set to return to the screen with The Beekeeper 2, as the famed assassin Adam Clay. Statham first played this role in the 2024 film, directed by David Ayer. It showed him flexing his muscles as he got back to his roots to seek revenge for the death of someone he held dear. Considering its chart-busting $162.6M global box office, the sequel doesn't come as a surprise.

While Statham will reprise his role, David Ayer won't be in the director's chair this time. Instead, Indonesian filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto will take over the directing duties. Tjahjanto is mainly known for his action and horror films like The Night Comes for Us (2018), Killers (2014), and V/H/S/2 (2013). He has recently worked on Bob Odenkirk-led Nobody 2, which is currently in the post-production stage.

According to the Deadline report, Kurt Wimmer will return as the screenwriter for the sequel. Miramax will bring this project to life as the key producer and financier. Chris Long will co-produce this project for Long Shot Productions in association with Jason Statham via his Punch Palace Productions. Amazon/MGM Studios will potentially take care of the film's domestic distribution.

No release details for The Beekeeper 2 have been revealed yet. However, the official reports from Deadline suggest that the film will enter the filming stage in the fall of 2025.

Until then, Jason Statham fans can look forward to his collaboration with the first chapter's director David Ayer titled A Working Man. This action thriller is set for a March 2025 release. Other than that, David Ayer is also working with Brad Pitt on an action-adventure drama titled Heart of the Beast.
