Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow cast and character guide: Who plays whom in the upcoming DC superhero film?

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is the latest superhero offering from DC. The film will be released on June 26, 2026, and is helmed by Craig Gillespie. The script is written by Ana Nogueira while James Gunn is the producer along with Peter Safran under the DC Studios banner.

It will be the second film in the DC Universe that was created by Gunn after he was appointed the studio head. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the eponymous comic book series and it's about Kara Zor-El.

The official synopsis of the film reads,

It follows Kara Zor-El's story and her darker origin before she finally made her way to Earth.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be boasting an interesting set of actors in the cast. This includes Milly Alcock who will play the titular superhero. Apart from her, Oscar-nominated Belgian performer Matthias Schoenaerts will also play a pivotal role in the film. Here is a comprehensive list of all the major actors and their characters in the upcoming superhero film.


(1) Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl

Milly Alcock will portray Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin. Unlike him, she grew up on a planet that was formed from the remains of Krypton. Kara will reportedly be shown as a resentful person because of her tragic past.

Alcock broke into the entertainment space for her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon. However, she has been acting since 2014 and has appeared in several shows. Alcock will be portraying Supergirl in Superman which will release in 2025.


(2) Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Matthias Schoenaerts is portraying Krem who belongs to the Yellow Hills. It's the role of a villain who will pose a threat to Supergirl and her surroundings. Matthias started acting at the young age of 13 and has done films like Loft, Bullhead, Rust and Bone and The Danish Girl among others. He has also done television work on shows like Duts, Django, and The Regime.


(2) Jason Momoa as Lobo

Back in December 2024, it was announced that Jason Momoa would be playing the role of Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Lobo works as a mercenary in the comics and is from Czarnia.

Momoa has earlier been part of films like Aquaman, Fast X, Dune, and Sweet Girl among others. On television, Momoa is still remembered for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones as well as his performance in See.


(3) Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll

Eve Ridley has signed to play the role of Ruthye Marye Knoll. In the comics, the character meets and befriends Supergirl. The two share a bond that might be explored in the film.

In 2024, Eve appeared in Netflix's series 3 Body Problem which was based on the namesake series of books. She has also done shows like Peppa Pig and Casualty.


(4) David Krumholtz as father of Supergirl

David Krumholtz was added to the cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in January 2025. The actor will play the role of Supergirl's father. The character's name is not revealed yet.

Krumholtz has previously done films like Oppenheimer, Superbad, Harold and Kumar, and Wonder Wheel among others.


(5) Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother

Emily Beecham has been cast as Supergirl's mother in the film. The makers are yet to reveal the character's name.

Beecham started her career with the zombie horror film 28 Weeks Later which came out in 2007. She then went on to do films like Hail, Caesar!, Daphne (for which she was nominated for an Empire Award), and Cruella. Her role in Little Joe earned her a Best Actress Award at the Cannes Festival.

Apart from the above-mentioned names, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will also feature a dog named Krypto who has also superpowers.

When will Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow be released?

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be released on June 26, 2026, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will be the second installment of the James Gunn DC Universe and will be a part of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Craig Gillespie is the director while the script is penned by Ana Nogueira.
