Deadpool and Wolverine has finally managed to bring Marvel's pre-eminence back on the map. Deadpool and Wolverine is indeed an important milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it brings the Merc with a Mouth in association with the Avengers and Wolverine for the first time.

Director Shawn Levy, who is responsible for making Deadpool and Wolverine a massive hit with audiences, recently spilled the details on a connection between the film and his other successful franchise, i.e., Stranger Things, that no one saw coming.

A recent post from a Reddit handle dedicated to MCU's news and updates posted a few pages from the screenplay of Deadpool and Wolverine, and that is where it all started. The pages revealed that the writers of the Marvel Studios film cleverly used character names from Stranger Things as placeholders to effectively hide the cameos that went on to be a part of the film.

The news soon spread like wildfire, and fans from all across the globe are now buzzing with the potential of a possible Deadpool and Stranger Things crossover. Shawn Levy took to his X profile and added that it was like two of his favorite worlds colliding. Here's everything we know.

What's the secret connection between Deadpool and Wolverine and Stranger Things?

If Shawn Levy himself hadn't confirmed it and if the pages from the Deadpool and Wolverine screenplay never surfaced, it would have been difficult to believe that the film shared a connection with The Upside Down. The connection went to such an extent that the writers of the screenplay used the character names from the Netflix series to hide the instances of cameos in the story.

This is in keeping with the Hollywood tradition of keeping cameos and other twists close to the chest. Undoubtedly, Deadpool and Wolverine hit the theatres a while back, but the film still packs quite a few punches, and this is owing to the several shocking and unexpected twists in the film as designed by Levy.

As the screenplay goes, Henry Cavill's cameo was hidden under the name of Hopper from Strange Things. Similarly, Jennifer Garner's Elektra was hidden under the name of Eleven, and Blade (Weasley Snipes) was referred to as Billy. Chris Evans's cameo appearance as Johnny Storm was disguised under the name of Jonathan Byers.

The Best of Both Worlds for Shawn Levy

It isn't surprising that the script for Deadpool will consist of secret nods to the Upside Down since both projects hold immeasurable significance in Levy's life. It was in keeping with Levy's oeuvre in adapting Deadpool for the big screen that his contributions to Stranger Things as a longtime producer were once again highlighted, and he was able to attract his fans from the show into watching the film.

Even the cast of the show decided to stand by Levy in his mammoth undertaking and attended the film premiere during the opening week. Maya Hawke, Joey Keery, and Finn Wolfhard were present at the premiere and were seen with buckets of popcorn in hand. Levy subsequently posted the photos on his social media.
