Spider-Man 4 finally has a title: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The first day of CinemaCon kicked off with a presentation from Sony Pictures Entertainment, and it had a surprise for Spider-Man fans across the world in the form of the title for the fourth movie featuring Tom Holland as the Web-Head.

The release date was confirmed as July 31, 2026. The movie will be directed by none other than Destin Daniel Cretton.

Cretton is no stranger to the MCU, as he previously directed 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and is also involved in the upcoming Wonder-Man series, which will be released later this year. The director was present for the presentation and expressed his love for the wall-crawler.

Spider-Man 4 title 'Brand New Day' explained

While "Brand New Day" may feel innocuous on the surface, those who know the comics will know it to be the title of the 2008 comic run written by Dan Slott, Bob Gale, Zeb Wells, and Marc Guggenheim (Yes, the Arrowverse Marc Guggenheim). It follows a newly established status quo for the wall-crawler, after the previous run "One More Day" ended on a similar note to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

For now, two things are officially confirmed: Destin Daniel Cretton is confirmed to direct Spider-Man 4, and Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the movie after 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Other than that, we don't know if Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will return as Michelle Jones "MJ" and Ned Leeds, respectively.

We also don't know the details regarding Sadie Sink's role in Spider-Man 4 yet. Fan theories suggest that she is either Jean Gray/Marvel Girl of the X-Men team or May-Day Parker from an alternate universe (probably where Tobey Maguire is Peter Parker). But these theories are unconfirmed, and we should wait for an official confirmation, which may probably happen this year at Comic Con.

Despite all the unconfirmed aspects of the movie, fans are still excited for Spider-Man 4, and director Destin Daniel Cretton mirrored this sentiment at the Sony Pictures Presentation at the 2025 Cinema Con in Las Vegas. Cretton, while expressing his deep love for the character, revealed that he was looking forward to directing the upcoming Spider-Man 4, saying:

“To say that it’s an honor to be standing on this stage is a pretty big understatement.”

He went on to say that he was always drawn to Peter Parker's innate and "messy humanity" and humor. Apart from Cretton, Tom Holland also appeared in a video segment and said:

"“Massive thank you for all of your support.”

In the same segment, the British actor further added:

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.”

Needless to say, the excitement for Spider-Man 4 was palpable.

As stated earlier, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in cinemas across the world on July 31, 2026, two weeks after Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, another movie starring Tom Holland.
