DJ Bandz has come out to support Chicago rapper Durk Banks, also known as Lil Durk, after the prosecutors cited the rapper’s lyrics in a new indictment. Bandz confirmed that the lyrics used in the song were recorded before he was charged with murder.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Bandz wrote:

The court has decided to use Lil Durk’s and Babyface’s track, Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy, as evidence in the alleged murder conspiracy case against Quando Rondo. According to Billboard, the prosecutors argued that the rapper “sought to commercialize the crime by rapping about his revenge.”

Although the lyrics of the song do not mention the names of the victims directly, it reportedly includes references to street violence and distressing scenes.

The lyrics go as follows:

"Got location (go, go)/ Green light (go, go, go, go, go)/Look on the news and see your son, you screamin', "No, no" (pu**y)/And all them ni**as hangin' with 'em, if you know, you know."

What does the new indictment state?

On November 8, 2024, Lil Durk was indicted with new felony charges for allegedly conspiring to murder-for-hire plot that targeted a rival rapper. According to CBS News, the Grammy Award Winner and five other group members are named as the lead defendant in the new indictment. That includes - Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston.

Reports suggest that Durk is now charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire, and using, carrying, and discharging firearms that resulted in death.

US District Attorney Martin Estrada said in a statement that it was "a cold-blooded murder" that resulted in death and endangered life of others present at the location.

“Mr Banks is charged with orchestrating a cold-blooded murder that resulted in the death of a rival’s family member."
"Not only that, the shooting occurred in the open, at a gas station at a busy intersection, endangering many others in the area."

He further states that such violent crimes are devastating to our community, and they have "zero tolerance" for such acts.

"Violent gun crime of this sort is devastating to our community and we will have zero-tolerance for those who perpetrate such callous acts of violence" The attorney said.

In the latest press release, the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California states that the two felony charges added to Lil Durk’s case with the latest indictment lists him as the main defendant. Following the arrest, Durk and his group face life imprisonment if convicted in the case.

When and why was Lil Durk arrested?

Lil Durk was arrested in Broward County, Florida, last month on a murder-for-hire charge that resulted in the death of Lul Pab, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo. The murder was believed to be revenge for the earlier killing of Durk’s fellow gang member, King Von.

The 32-year-old rapper’s Chicago-based group, “Only the Family” or “OTF,” was also arrested and accused of the crime. The group was formed by Durk in 2010. King Von was one of the members of the group.

It was further reported that Drunk tried to flee the US before his arrest as he reportedly booked three flights to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai.
