Somewhere Quiet chronicles Meg Rhoads, who managed to survive a horrible kidnapping attempt. She is trying to piece together her life after the trauma-inducing incident and is living in Cape Cod in an estate owned by her husband. She starts questioning her sanity after finding out more about his family and the town's history.

How does Somewhere Quiet end?

As Somewhere Quiet progresses, Meg realizes that her husband, Scott, might be behind her kidnapping. He, along with Madeline Whitman, is also trying to take away her wealth by using her health issues as a shield. She finds out her ransom video inside the house despite his claims of having never received it. Meg also finds out that the papers for the power of attorney are to be moved from her to Scott. After accidentally running over Madeline's dog, Meg ties her inside the basement.

Madeline tells her that both her mind and body are filled with the trauma. Soon, Scott shows up and tells her that he did receive the ransom video and that he had nothing to do with her kidnapping. A fight takes place between them, after which Meg blacks out. She then sees the dead body of Scott lying on top of her. We are then connected to the first scene of the film, where she steals a truck. After a point, she gets out and hears police sirens approaching her.

Meg experienced trauma as an adult and as a child as well. She was adopted at a young age and was disconnected from her cultural background. Unlike Madelin, she could not speak her mother tongue, Korean. A lot of the scenes take place inside her head and are shot in a particular way. So it's quite difficult to pinpoint what exactly happened inside the house in the final scenes. Meg's husband, Scott, is dead, and she manages to escape the house. But she then stops as we hear cops approaching her. We can assume that she will get arrested for her deeds.

The film successfully manages to turn the final girl horror trope on its head. It begins from the point where most horror films end. We see what the character went through and how it affects the rest of her life. The film's director spoke about the casting process and said,

"We did a little Zoom audition Jen (Jennifer Kim) and me. It was a magical experience where I had her do a scene sort of like without giving much context, just have her do it sort of like dry. She did it so perfectly and then we talked about it afterwards and every question she asked was exactly what the scene was about."
