David Howard Thornton is returning to the horror genre with Screamboat, which will reimagine the whistling Mickey Mouse in a sinister way. It is based on Walt Disney's Steamboat Willie, a horror short film released back in 1928. Screamboat is one of the first films to jump onto the bandwagon of Mickey Mouse reaching the public domain.
Helmed by Steven Lamorte, Screamboat will have Thornton again portraying a terrorizing killer, a role he perfected in the Terrifier film series. It will have a different version of the Mickey Mouse people love since it will be out there killing people. LaMorte has written the story while the screenplay has been penned by him and Matthew Garcia-Dunn.
As per reports, Screamboat will be on theatre screens in April 2025.
