Tobin Bell's John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, is seemingly not taking a break as he's set to appear in Saw XI, the highly anticipated sequel that is said to be set between the first two films. The film is being directed by Kevin Gruetert, who sat on the directorial chair for Saw VI and Saw 3D.

The long-running franchise has seen some key characters recurring in the films, including Amanda Young, Jill Tuck, Mark Hoffman, and more. However, only John Kramer appears to have the confirmed tickets among them for the next horror ride. This comes as Tobin confirmed to LA Times in one interview by saying that,

“I’m really excited about continuing to develop him. John Kramer is not done. There’s more to learn"

One interesting fact about it is that, though Saw XI is the eleventh entry in the franchise, it is technically the tenth film story-wise. It is now set to release on September 26, 2025.

When is Saw XI scheduled for release?

Lionsgate had planned the film to be released as early as September 2024 but it was delayed for a year. That and The Crow was pushed further alongside it. There wasn't any explanation provided so we can only assume that the film needed more development.

Now it's slated for a release on September 26, 2025, which gives ample time to the creators to refine the horror in there. Interestingly, Saw XI will be the only Lionsgate film to be released in the month. However, the film will clash with Warner Bros. Pictures' The Bride! and Universal Pictures' Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie.

Saw XI plot speculations

Because that's what we can do concerning the plot given that Lionsgate hasn't given us one yet. Let's cut out the obvious first: deadly traps, new victims, and, of course, Jigsaw. Now we don't know if John will appear in a flashback sort of thing or the one pulling the strings again, but he is definitely somewhere in there.

Over the years, we have come to know that John Kramer is a force to be reckoned with. His Jigsaw is more of a consciousness than a character, which he transfers to his apprentices in the franchise. Whether he is behind the traps or not, we can always feel the dark Jigsaw energy in them.

Who is playing who in Saw XI?

That is literally one question viewers ask while watching Saw films. But then we are talking about the cast here. That said, Tobin Bell is the only one confirmed as the returning cast member from the franchise. As there are no details regarding the matter, here are a few leads who can reportedly reprise the role:

  • Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young
  • Costas Mandylor as Mark Hoffman
  • Betsy Russell as Jill Tuck
  • Cary Elwes as Lawrence Gordon
  • Matt Passmore as Logan Nelson

Will Saw XI be the final chapter?

It is very unlikely that the film is reaching the end of the line. To further back that, it is said to be taking place between the first two movies so we are likely to see one part of the big story fleshing out with this.

Box office run can be a deciding factor for giving another movie a thought. Saw III remains the highest-grossing film to this date, raking in approximately $165 million to date, while Spiral, a spin-off in the series, remains at the bottom with $40 million. Concerning Saw X, it too picked up a healthy sum of $125 million from its run.
