Michael Gracey directed film Better Man is a 2024 biographic on the life of the famous British pop artist Robbie Williams. Soon after the release of the first official trailer of the movie, the excitement of the fans have peaked as we witness something unique.

Gracey has used computer-generated imagery to design a monkey who will be Williams' stand-in and Jonno Davies will play the part of his animal avatar. Robbie Williams reportedly has a few cameos in Better Man while the major part will be CGI-driven, as the British singer lends his voice to Davies.

When will Better Man be released?

The upcoming biographical movie Better Man is set to have a select theatrical release in the United States on December 25, 2024 and will start airing nationwide on January 17, 2025.

Director Michael Gracey has reportedly added a few words on the star's appearance on screen,

“This is how he sees himself.

The statement has drawn a lot of attention from the crowd, leaving the audience speculating on what exactly will be shown in the movie - the role of the monkey in the life of Robbie Williams?

What we see in the trailer is a young Williams as he hustles through his teenage years all of which shifts to him performing in front of a huge crowd.

Better Man will supposedly be a movie filled with music, drama, a touch of action and intense storytelling as Robbie Williamsm (the ape) steals the show while struggling to become a successful star.


What is the plot of Better Man?

Based on the real life story of pop singer Robbie Williams, Better Man is centered around the protagonist Williams as he appears on the screen in the form of a CGI-generated monkey. The story is reportedly about the periodic rise and fall of Robbie as his music finally reaches the audience.

The man behind the lens is Michael Gracey (also known for his work in The Greatest Showman) who portrays Williams' journey from being a part of Take That, a boyband to become a solo singer as he breaks all records. As we see in the trailer, an iconic dialogue by the star goes as,

"I know what you’re thinking. What’s with the monkey? I’m Robbie Williams. I’m one of the biggest pop stars in the world. But I’ve always seen myself a little less evolved,

Robbie Williams closes the statement saying he has always seen himself to be less evolved - the explanation of which definitely lies in the movie.

Simon Gleeson has worked alongside Oliver Cole to assist in the writing of Better Man. Robbie Williams will do the part of giving his own voice while that of young Robbie Williams is done by Jonno Davies. The latter will also be portrayed as a CGI-generated ape all throughout the movie. Among others on the cast we have,
