The iconic Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho's next film Revelations, shall be released on 21st March 2025, on Netflix.

South Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho is prominent for his work in several acclaimed films and series. Some of his work includes The King of Pigs (2011), The Fake (2013), Seoul Station (2016), Psychokinesis (2018), Peninsula (2020), Hellbound (2021- present), and Jung_E (2023).

The director, this time, comes with Revelations. It follows the plot of a pastor and an investigator's worlds and beliefs colliding with a young person who is nowhere to be found.

What is the plot of Revelations?

Revelations follows the plot of Pastor Sung Min-Chan, who is burdened by repentance due to some of his prior actions. When a young person suddenly disappears, the pastor claims to have information about the kidnapper. He owes it to a 'divine prophecy' that he has experienced.

The pastor believes Kwon Yang-rae to be the person behind this crime. Kwon Yang-rae is a criminal who has been lately released from jail. He also comes around at the pastor's church by mere chance.

Meanwhile, the investigator entrusted with this case, Detective Lee Yeon-hui, is a deeply troubled soul. She has experienced immense personal loss and is tormented by her deceased sibling's visions.

Going by the plot, themes such as sin, retribution, faith, justice, and loss seem to be the core elements of the storyline. Two different people, embroiled in their own personal battles, cross paths, which makes groundbreaking revelations.

As per reports at Tudum, director Yeon-Sang ho talks about his vision of the characterizations in Revelations.

The director elucidates:

“The story centers on the character psychologies of [Pastor] Sung Min-chan and [Detective] Lee Yeon-hui, who resemble one another, but make very different choices,”

He continues -

“I wanted to create a story about a lead character with egocentric views, someone who sees and believes only what he wants to. I was thinking of such a character through whom I could create a story within the genre, and Sung Min-chan, a pastor of a new church, was born.”
