Luca Guadagnino's Queer is a period romance drama film starring Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey and Jason Schwartzman. The movie is set for a limited theatrical release across the United States on November 27, 2024.
Queer is adapted from the semi-autobiographical novel written by William Burroughs. With a backdrop of 40s' Mexico City, the story revolves around a man named William Lee, played by Daniel Craig, who escapes from a drug bust and wanders around New Orleans.
While on his journey, Lee has an encounter with an American Navy serviceman, Eugene Allerton, played by Drew Starkey, who also uses drugs. Shortly after, the two get close and Lee develops a strong infatuation for Eugene.
Principal photography for the film took place in Rome, Italy in 2023 and some of the shots were also taken in parts of Ecuador. The first announcement of the film came in August 2024 at the Spotlight Gala of the 62nd New York Film Festival. Later, the movie's distribution rights in the United States were acquired by A24. The film's official synopsis reads,
"Lee, who recounts his life in Mexico City among American expatriate college students and bar owners surviving on part-time jobs and GI Bill benefits. He is driven to pursue a young man named Allerton, who is based on Adelbert Lewis Marker."

Daniel Craig starring Queer is set to hit limited theatres across the United States on November 27, 2024. In July 2024, it was announced that the film would have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival where it premiered in September 2024.
