Steven Knight's British preriod drama series Peaky Blinders is set to return holding the hands of Tom Harper, in the shape of a new movie. Meeting the fans' expectations, Cillian Murphy will resume his cold gangster role of Tommy Shelby. Harper will give this project a new identity through Netflix, while the screenplay will be done by Steven Knight himself, reports.
The BBC series will continue its journey as lead star Murphy mentions,
"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me
With the excitement rising among the fans and the announcement of the new film, Knight himself added,
"I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II
This confirms that the production of the film has already begun and we can expect to see the emergence of Tommy Shelby in a whole new avatar.
Who are the cast and crew in the Peaky Blinders movie?
According to reports, Cillian Murphy will continue playing his part as Tommy Shelby as he is co-starred by Rebecca Fergusson, best known for her works in Dune and Mission Impossible.
Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth will be among the other cast members. However there is no official confirmation about new the roles that we can expect. Film director Harper added,
"There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.
The piece will be produced by Knight, Patrick Holland and Guy Heeley along with Murphy himself. On the other hand, as executive producers, we will have on board David Kosse, Caryn Mandaback, Andrew Warren working alongside Harper and Jamie Glazebrook.
What will the plot of the Peaky Blinders movie look like?
Tommy Shelby was last seen in the close sequnce of Season 6 episode finale as he rides off on the white horse he named after his late wife Grace - leaving an open ending and a lot of questions on the viewers' minds.
The alternate rise and fall of the Shelby clan is something we had seen earlier in the TV series, where they face socio-economic turmoil as they grow from street-based gangsters to inluential poiticians and business people.
Though the plot for the movie is still under development, we can expect the return of the Shelbies with an action-filled continuation of this period crime saga. This can be validated by what Knight added in one of his statements saying,
I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.
When is the new Peaky Blinders movie set to be released?
Although there have been official statements about the film's release and the beginning of production, no dates have yet been confirmed by Steven Knight and Tom Harper.
