A brief overview of Outbreak Fest's history

Outbreak Fest was started by Jordan Coupland and Lee Follows in 2011. The festival initially started at the Broomhall Center in Sheffield in 2011. One of the festival founders Jordan Coupland stated in an exclusive interview with Northern Grit on October 14, 2011:

"Outbreak Festival is an all day DIY hardcore fest featuring some of the best bands from all over the UK, Europe and USA. It has only ever happened once before, but the second one is already planned for Sunday 8th January 2012. It previously took place this year in Sheffield, but the next one will be at The Well Leeds."

Jordan Coupland later talked about the process behind running the festival, stating:

"There are two people running it. Me and one of my closest friends, Lee Fellows. But there are endless lists of people who have helped us out with everything along the way. It’s like it isn’t even our festival most of the time. It’s everyone who goes to it and the bands that play, they are the ones who actually make it happen and make it what it is."

Coupland continued, talking about the process of getting bands for the festival:

"Our motivation came from just enjoying hardcore really. Going to good successful shows. I’ve personally always had an interest in events managing. It’s what I want to do for the rest of my life. Not just hardcore either. Yea, we have some great bands that we have worked with in the past, and made a lot of really cool friends because of it too."

He further added,

"I think what’s great about most hardcore bands is that it’s usually not too hard to get them on a show. They’re all thankful for the interest, so its just a case of having a chat with them. But obviously sometimes we do have to go through agents for bigger or USA bands, and in that case when dont know them personally we have to use a more professional approach."

Outbreak Festival has previously seen performances by bands such as Brutality Will Prevail, Knuckledust, Title Fight, Trapped Under Ice, Code Orange, Comeback Kid, and more.
