The Oscars 2025 nominees have just been announced by Rachel Sennott (Saturday Night) and Bowen Yang (Wicked).

The ceremony for the 97th Academy Awards, aka Oscars 2025, will take place on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood. Conan O’Brien, the beloved television host, will be hosting this year’s ceremony. It will begin at 4:00 pm PT / 7:00 pm ET and will be aired live on the ABC network and the streaming platform Hulu.

The Oscars 2025 nominations were initially supposed to be revealed on January 17. However, the announcement was postponed in the wake of the tragic LA wildfires. Due to the continued devastation, the Academy also extended the voting window for the nominations. The Oscars 2025 nominees were finally revealed at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater of the Film Academy.

It was recently announced that the Oscars 2025 will not feature live performances. Bill Kramer, the Academy CEO, joined president Janet Yang and addressed the board members with this heartfelt announcement:

“We will honor Los Angeles as the city of dreams, showcasing its beauty and resilience, as well as its role as a beacon for filmmakers and creative visionaries for over a century. We will reflect on the recent events while highlighting the strength, creativity, and optimism that defines Los Angeles and our industry.”

List of nominees for Oscars 2025

The Oscar 2025 nominees have just been announced, and like every other year, there are a few snubs and surprises. French filmmaker Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez has earned 13 nominations and has become the most-nominated film from this year’s ceremony.

Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist is right behind the vibrant musical with ten nominations in total. It is joined by Jon M. Chu’s blockbuster Wicked, which has also earned ten nods, including two for its two stars - Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

A Complete Unknown, which was released relatively late in the year, has bagged eight nominations at the Oscars 2025, including for its lead, Timothée Chalamet, and its director, James Mangold. It is Chalamet’s second Oscar nod after receiving it for his performance in Call Me By Your Name.

Conclave, Edward Berger’s somber drama, joins the Bob Dylan biopic at the third spot with eight nominations. The Cannes-favourite Anora and The Substance have also faired well, with six nominations for the former and five for the latter at the Oscars 2025.

The acclaimed body horror film has also earned Coralie Fargeat a nomination for her direction, making her the only female filmmaker on the coveted list. Dune: Part Two is another blockbuster project to have faired well in this year’s nominations.
