"No! We're a team": When Robert Downey Jr. stole hearts with his reply to whether he's the Avengers' leader in reality.

When we are talking about the Avengers –the original ones– every single one of them is pivotal to the team. It's true, Captain Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the team, and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) is mostly the brains behind their operations. But all in all, they work together as an organism.

Downey himself affirmed this when he appeared during Jimmy Kimmel Live alongside the five others. When Jimmy asked if he considered himself the leader of the group, he first playfully said, "If you say so," but then gave the real answer to it, saying,

"No, we're a team."

Though the original team sort of disbanded after the events of Captain America: Civil War, we see them joining hands together in Avengers: Endgame. We can't really say they got back in Avengers: Infinity War as Tony was fighting a battle on a different planet altogether before the mad titan Thanos snapped his fingers to turn half the universe's life to dust.

The Avengers don't just share that bond on-screen

Over the years, we have grown fond of the bond the superhero team shares. But know that a few of them shared such a bond before they began saving the world on-screen.

About over a decade ago, Mark Ruffalo, who is Bruce Banner in the film, organized an 'Ask Me Anything' on the social network Reddit to support water defense. We all know how active he is when it comes to saving the environment. However, a fan curiously asked if his friendship is the same as we see them on-screen as the Avengers. He said it's

"Better."

This is more or less the same with Scarlett Johansson, who plays Natasha Romanoff, and Chris Evans. If you remember the party scene where he just stands there and sees Natasha flirt with Banner from Age of Ultron, he gives Banner some advice. And he says, she wasn't flirting, and he knows that, as he has been close to her, just to confuse Banner, which is one of the most comic scenes in the franchise.

But he sure is close to her, as Scarlett Johansson told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview. Before Avengers, they worked together as teenagers. And next we see the man coming out of nowhere and giving ScarJo the scare of her life.

While we can say everyone plays an equal part in the team, it's Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) whom the Avengers need the most, as his on-screen wife Laura, played by Linda Cardellini, says to him.

Interestingly, he wanted to break the knee of Chris Hemsworth –who plays Thor in the MCU– as he was too good-looking and tall. Next we know, they are two great friends now. On Renner's snowplough accident, he told GQ that it had impacted him a lot.

Now every team member minus Ruffalo got a tattoo

In 2018, five of the original members of the team got matching tattoos. Renner says it's a symbol of their "bond and love." Sad they couldn't persuade Mark to do this, but there's a good reason behind it: He is afraid of needles. Well, all strong guys do; take Goku from Dragon Ball for one.

This has been a remarkable journey for the actors together, but now it is highly unlikely we will see all of them together in the future. At least we cannot expect Downey with them, as he is too dialed in for his role as MCU's next big baddie, Doctor Doom.
