It was first brought to our attention in May 2024 that a Western film called Gunslingers is about to enter post-production; we recently got an update on it in the form of a trailer. The trailer, released by Lionsgate Movies, is now live on YouTube.

In the film, which Brian Skiba is directing, we have Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider), Stephen Dorff (Backbeat), Heather Graham (Boogie Nights), and more. CEO of Aarimax Films, one of the production companies involved with the movie, says of the cast that,

Stephen, Heather, and Nick, deliver original and powerful performances, along with the rest of our stellar cast, that I can’t wait for audiences all over the world to enjoy.

Other companies that were a part of production include Grindstone Entertainment Group, 5150 Action, and Skibavision. Though the trailer has a more serious tone, Nicholas Cage appears to be a funny character in it.

Everything we know about Gunslingers

Before moving on to anything else, fans should know what this story is about. According to the film's plot (via IMDb),

"In a town named redemption, reformed gunslinger Keller and mad genius Ben are guided by spiritual leader Jericho towards vindication. While confronting their violent histories, their newfound peace is challenged by violence and revenge."

Well, when even a town is called 'redemption' we ought to expect some evil in there or how else can we expect a redemption?

Concerning its release, Gunslingers will hit select theaters in the United States on April 11, 2025, alongside On Demand and digital platforms. However, where it will be streaming isn't clear yet.

The film's cast includes Nicolas Cage, who is playing Ben, and as we have already discussed, he appears to be a fun character and a mad genius, as the plot describes. The actor won an Academy Award in 1996 for Leaving Las Vegas (1995).

Stephen Dorff is playing the lead Thomas Keller and has appeared in films like Blade (1998), Blood and Wine (1997), Cecil B. DeMented (2000), and more. Alongside him is The Hangover's (2009) Heather Graham, who is portraying Val in the film. While these three are leading the film, other actors appearing in Gunslingers are mentioned below.

  • Scarlet Rose Stallone as Bella
  • Tzi Ma as Lin
  • Costas Mandylor as Jericho
  • Cooper Barnes as Levi
  • Bre Blair as Mary
  • Mitchell Hoog as Jesse
  • Jeremy Kent Jackson as Robert Keller
  • Elisabetta Fantone as Annie
  • Laurie Love as Thalia
  • Dan O'Brien as Josh
  • Ava Monroe Tadross as Grace
  • Francis Cronin as OLeary

Actors including William McNamara, Randall Batinkoff, and Mohamed Karim are in undisclosed roles, according to IMDb listings.

Here's a brief breakdown of the Gunslingers trailer

youtube-cover

The Gunslingers trailer begins with a woman looking for Thomas Keller and cuts to a short gunfight in a jungle. Then again, a man is looking for Thomas Keller. Keller certainly has a reputation in the town, though the man looking for him doesn't appear friendly, at least towards him.

Later we see people preparing for battle; tensions are high, but Cage seems to not care about whatever is going around, much like Lisa Kudrow's character in The Parenting.
