Lionsgate will release its feature-length film The Unbreakable Boy, starring Zachary Levi, on February 21, 2025. The movie has been produced by Kingdom Story Company with the Erwin Brothers (Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin) and director Jon Gunn.
Shortly after Lionsgate dropped its first official trailer, The Unbreakable Boy has garnered some audience attention as the Shazam star returns in a brand new avatar! The story revolves around a small boy named Austin LeRette(Jacob Laval) who suffers from autism and brittle bone disease and struggles to move forward in life.
Shazam star Zachary Levi stars in The Unbreakable Boy
Zachary Levi (known to play the titular character in DC's Shazam) will reportedly play one of the lead roles in The Unbreakable Boy. He has been cast as the father of protagonist Austin, a small boy battling autism and brittle bone disease.
The movie has been adapted from the original novel of the same name written by Scott Michael LeRette and Susy Flory. The first official trailer has given a sneak peek into Austin's dramatic journey as he tries to balance his medical condition and life as a kid.
We also witness Austin's beautiful relationship with his father, Scott LeRette, who always supports him no matter how hard things get - further justifying the movie's title as well! The official synopsis of The Unbreakable Boy reads:
"A young boy with both a rare brittle-bone disease and autism. But what makes him truly unique is his joyous, funny, life-affirming world view that transforms and unites everyone around him."
Production and release details of The Unbreakable Boy

Though initially the movie was set for a 2022 release, Lionsgate postponed it with no explanation. Later, in 2024, the film studio announced that The Unbreakable Boy would be released on February 21, 2025. Emmy Award-nominated actress Meghann Fahy will play the part of Teresa (Austin's mother) alongside lead star Zachary Levi.
