Jesse Colin Young was a legend in the world of music and can never be forgotten. According to TMZ, the folk song singer recently passed away on Tuesday, March 16 at the age of 83.
The legendary singer was the frontman of Youngbloods, a popular psychedelic rock band in the 1960s. The band was a hit at their time and sang some legendary tracks like Darkness and Get Together, a classic peace and love anthem in 1969.
While fans and music lovers were heartbroken, the cause of the singer's death was yet to be determined. As per a recent article by People Magazine, the Aiken County Coroner's Office confirmed that Colin died because of "complications of cardiac, atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease". The article also mentioned that the manner of the demise was completely natural.
Colin's wife and manager, Connie Young, shared a statement with People Magazine on March 17 announcing the legendary musician's demise:
"It is with deep sadness that we announce music legend Jesse Colin Young, who left a unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll, died in his home in Aiken, South Carolina yesterday afternoon."

Jesse Colin Young was born on November 11, 1941, as Perry Miller. He was a native of New York. According to the New York Times, Young attended New York University before he decided to drop out and pursue a solo career in music. He then released his solo albums like Young Blood and The Soul of a City Boy in 1964 and 1965.
After that, he went to form the Youngbloods when he met Jerry Corbitt in Cambridge, Mass. in the middle of the 1960s. Drummer Joe Baeur and pianist-guitarist, Lowell Levinger, later joined the band. The Youngbloods became the soundtrack of Cafe Au Go Go in Greenwich Village. The band members split in 1972.
Colin has also worked as an actor. His notable works include films like True Lies, A Walk on the Moon, and Zabriskie Point.
According to a statement provided to People Magazine, the singer immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with his track Get Together which was an international smash hit:
"He immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with 'Get Together,' an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s." read the statement
The statement further praised Colin Young's vocal skills and commendable guitar playing:
"During the decades that followed, Young expanded both his audience and his artistic range, releasing a string of solo albums that mixed socially conscious lyrics with top-tier guitar skills and gorgeous vocals."
After the Youngbloods decided to split, Colin worked his way to become an accomplished label owner, podcaster, producer, instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and social and environmental activist.
According to IMDb, Jesse Colin Young married Susan E. Lawrence in 1962 and separated in 1987. He shared two children with Lawrence. He later married Constance Darden in the year 1988. Colin has four children, Jasmine D. Young, Julia VanSciver Young, Tristan J. Young, and Cheyenne Joseph Young.
