Cardi B announced the birth of her third child, a girl, on Instagram on September 12, and she revealed she's taking things easy this time around. The Grammy-winning rapper, 31, opened up on X about how she's dealing with postpartum struggles and her mindset. Cardi shares two other children with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Offset.
In a candid exchange with a fan on X, the rapper revealed:
"I’m not doing heaving lifting, no muscle straining, squatting none of that… just cardio. Sometimes to avoid postpartum depression you gotta keep your mind busy and for me that’s work and staying active…"
Cardi B says she was "dragged" when she was 5 months pregnant
When a fan took to X to note that the rapper had barely given birth a week ago and she was already at the gym, Cardi B replied, noting that this time around, things are going to be different, saying that the postpartum for her third child is "a little different" from her first two.
"But you know what’s funny?? Y’all dragged me down when I gained 15 pounds because I was 5 months pregnant but now yall fake concerned and wanna talk about pressure??? Y’all said I was pregnant to avoid working now that you see I’m still at it it’s something else?? So yeah I’m taking this personal but its FOR ME because either way y’all are gonna have something to say."
The fan replied back to the rapper, explaining that the tweet was only supposed to be a dig at the "snap back" culture.
"I genuinely didn’t mean any harm and the tweet was never an indictment on you but rather society’s expectations of women and “snap back” culture. The reply to the OP honestly shows that there was no malicious intent. But I hope you and baby are well. I’m a big fan. [heart emoji]."
Refinery 29 explains snap back culture as the "celebration of a new parent who is able to quickly reshape their body into what it looked like prior to having a baby, someone who is able to astonishingly regain their youthful beauty, slimmer figure, and sex appeal in months."
Cardi B responded to the apologetic fan in agreement.
"Totally babe!! And I do agree about society and pressure…I just was never the type to care about snap back after birth. I don’t know what it is about this time around but I have this burst of energy where I want to do EVERYTHING… It’s like I want to complete all my goals in one day."
Cardi B announces the birth of her daughter in a TikTok video
Cardi B took to Instagram to share the happy news with her fans a mere hours after filing for separation, penning:
“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love and my passion!"
She continued to gush over the latest arrival of her family, adding,
"I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
The rapper announced the arrival of her third child in a TikTok video, in which Cardi B, Offset, and a little girl nestled in her mother's arms were seen. Her older daughter, Kulture, said on Facetime, “Hi mommy, Is the baby sleeping?," to which the singer replied, “Yeah, she’s little.”
Kulture then said to her mother,
“Mommy, I’m gonna come there okay?”
Cardi B and Migos rapper Offset have been on-again-off-again since the dawn of their relationship.
They started dating in 2017, and got hitched that same year, TMZ reported. By 2018, she revealed she was pregnant. In July 2024, Cardi officially called it quits with the father of her children as she filed for divorce.
