On November 8, 2024 singer Azealia Banks criticised Megan Thee Stallion through several X posts claiming that the latter made ‘terrible music.' The posts came after Thee Stallion launched her latest project Act II which was a reissue of her third studio album Megan. Taking to X, Azealia Banks wrote,

“Megan makes terrible music. I think even she knows that.”

Her comments have drawn reactions from social media users with one X user writing,

“Yet you have no nominations for shit you put out. Not even a BET award.”

Social media users questioned whether Azealia Banks made good music, while others mentioned that she was irrelevant.

“She's like the Taylor Swift for rappers. All her songs sound the same,” an online user wrote.
“you make good music??? I think Megan is better than you,” another person commented.
“Congrats, you’re being relevant. Pitty your music isn’t,” another X user remarked.

Others suggested that Azealia Banks should not be taken seriously, as netizens commented on the possible reason her music went bad.

“Don’t take this seriously bc just yesterday she was saying she likes a lot of her songs and think she approaches her beats in cool way,” a person mentioned.
“you spill from time to time and this time you did,” a netizen reacted.
“It's not "I want to be like Megan" aspirational. It's "Megan is like me" relatable,” an X user pointed out.
“Annnd her label is responsible for submitting her lol… I don’t think they dropped the ball, I think they knew the music was horrible too,” another social media user wrote.

Azealia Banks wrote Megan Thee Stallion lacked Nicki Minaj’s ‘aspirational’ quality

Following this post, she wrote another in which argued that Megan Thee Stallion lacked the aspirational quality that made fans want to emulate her in the way they do with Nicki Minaj. She suggested that much of Thee Stallion's success and marketing seem built around opposition to Nicki, which she viewed as an unsustainable strategy.

Azealia Banks went on to say that both Cardi and Megan Thee Stallion might eventually face backlash for aligning themselves against the public’s anti-Nicki sentiment, as they may not fully understand that criticism of Nicki is often rooted in admiration. She emphasized that relying on this kind of attention without a backup plan is unwise. Following the second X post, Banks wrote another one where she claimed,

“Like I said before, Meg The Stallion is going to be a HUGE shit stain on Jay-Z's damn near flawless reputation for creating huge female stars. rita Ora was the flop bird shit he avoided landing on his head but this Meg shit is Def going to land on his report card. You don't go from Beyonce & Rihanna to Rita Ora & Meg The Stallion Talk about a downgrade. Sheesh.”

In another news, Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee alleged in his podcast that Megan Thee Stallion and model Winnie Harlow engaged in an altercation at Michael Rubin’s party. He said he didn’t have details about the fight, but was expecting a video of the same.
