“Ya boy had warrants at 19!” — Sterling K. Brown reveals why he had an arrest warrant back in the day

During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Paradise star Sterling K. Brown revealed having a run-in with a traffic cop as a teenager.

"Listen, it's not like Brown was out there in these streets like that. One time I was driving my car (and) a motorcycle cops pulls me over. He goes, 'Do you know why I pulled you over?'

Brown recalled his reaction and noted that he wasn't being "sassy" while saying, "No sir, I don't." Brown mentioned being clueless and confused about why he might have been pulled over since he was not "speeding or anything." When the cop replied:

"He goes, 'I bet your friend in the backseat does.' He goes, 'Oh, 'cause I threw a cigatette out the back?"

Brown's friend was sitting in the backseat and offered to pay for the ticket since he was to blame but never ended up paying.

"I go off to college, I come home to renew my license - I had a warrant out for (my arrest). Ya boy had warrants at 19! That's not a good feeling. I'm not that dude."

Sterling K. Brown is currently starring in the Hulu drama series Paradise, which he has also executively produced. The series marks his reunion with This is Us creator, Dan Fogelman.

Paradise is a drama that features the life of the world's most prominent individuals in a wealthy community. Brown plays the role of a secret service agent who is suspected of killing the President of the United States.

Brown came up with the idea for the series before launching This is Us in 2016.

The series premiered on January 26, 2025, and stars James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, and newcomers Aliyah Mastin and Percy Daggs IV.
