Bradford Cohen, Kodak Black's lawyer, has denied allegations that the rapper was under the influence of drugs following the release of a video that showed him eating chicken wings while sitting in the middle of an Atlanta street as cars drove by. Causing fans and other artists to show concern, a user commented, “Y’all keep coming up with these excuses.”
Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, was seen eating chicken wings while sitting cross-legged in the middle of a busy Atlanta street in a video that swiftly went viral on social media. Fans speculated about his mental health and potential drug use due to his peculiar behavior, which sparked a lot of internet debate.
While some fans were concerned, others wrote it off as normal Kodak behavior.
The internet's reaction
Bradford Cohen, Kodak's lawyer, intervened to provide clarification amidst the mounting rumours. Cohen told TMZ, that the rapper was just filming extra material for a future music video and wasn't under the influence of drugs. Cohen stated,
“Kodak was in Atlanta filming b-roll for a project. He wasn’t in any trouble, nor was he under the influence of any substances.”
To which a user on the internet commented,

"Y'all keep coming up with these excuses as if we haven't been watching him & his moves for the last 2 years. But hey keep ignoring his issues if you want"
Following this more chimed in, urging those close to Kodak to step in. A user commented

"You just contributing to his downfall if you can't see he need help then your blind"
while another user added,

"You guys gotta do a better job of checking on bruh at what point does anyone step in and get him some help"
another user commented,

"Tweaking and geekin get that man some help"
However, some defended Kodak arguing that the video was taken out of context, the users commented,

"Def can tell he is shooting a video if you watch the whole video clip !!! The media will do and post anything for clicks !!! It's always funny until they are talking about you"

"Ima be honest ion know, there was another vid where he tweaked out & was acting sober the next minute so it. coulda just been B roll fr"
Kodak Black's past struggles and ongoing speculations
Kodak Black has previously been under investigation for suspected drug use. During an Instagram Live session in April 2024, the rapper acknowledged that he had previously battled addiction, specifically to Percocet, but asserted that he had conquered it. At the time, Kodak addressed questions about his history of substance misuse by stating,
“I kicked a Percocet habit.”
Some fans are still dubious despite his lawyer's claims, citing Kodak's past of unpredictable actions and legal issues. Cohen has insisted, meanwhile, that the widely shared video was being misunderstood. He said
“People are always quick to jump to conclusions. Kodak was just doing his thing—this was all part of his creative process.”
Ye offers support
Rapper Kanye West, also known by his stage name Ye, was one of the people who expressed worry about Kodak. Ye voiced his support for Kodak Black and hinted that he could require help in a social media clip message which is now deleted. Ye said,
“I know y’all think I’m going through something right now… but I just saw a video of Kodak.”
He went on to say that he didn't want Kodak Black to be the target of a staged "intervention" the way his own actions are scrutinized.
He continued saying,
“My brother Kodak, and I feel a calling. He’s actually wearing this Donda chain. And it’s not just because he’s wearing a chain, but it’s like, how are you sitting here wearing this chain? Unless something’s saying to go and get my brother.”
The Donda rapper then revealed that he was getting ready to take a plane to Atlanta to check up on Kodak.
“I’ve thought about it before. I was like, ‘Man, I should go down to Atlanta, maybe. I could be the person who can make a difference.’ And that’s what I’m about to do right now.”
It is still unknown if Ye actually went ahead with his plans or not.
Kodak Black responds to Ye
Later in an Instagram Live session, Kodak Black addressed Ye's worries describing him as a
"a real one"
and praising him for his support. Kodak Black declared,
“I f*** with Ye, Kanye a real one.”
He added that he appreciates Kanye's viewpoint despite acknowledging the rapper's recent issues. He went on to say,
“You know why he a real one? … Kanye the only n**** still f with Diddy, 'cause he know he ain't g*y. … Why I f*ck with Kanye? 'Cause he know what he feel like, people be on bullsh*t. … I'm pretty sure the feds 'gon probably like seize all that boy accounts. Kanye just did some real sh*t.
Kodak Black continued to allude to a potential partnership with Ye by stating,
You know what, I'ma do a collab with you, so bro can get some money and sh*t still."
