WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mick Foley made a career for himself doing the unthinkable; attempting death-defying stunt work few other names on the roster were ready to take on. Yesterday, on Tuesday April 1st, Foley was involved in a serious car accident that required him to be hospitalized, but thankfully it seems that the former rough and tumble star will make a full recovery.
The wrestling icon took to social media to share the news, posting an image of the totaled car alongside a caption explaining the situation at hand,
“TOUGH DAY FOR MICK! I have no idea how I am still walking around after this accident. I’m in the hospital now, and I’m sore from my knees to my neck, including a minor concussion.”
It seems as though the outcome is a best-case scenario for the former high-octane entertainer, who avoided any serious injury and looks to take the requisite time off to fully heal from the scary accident.
Quick History of Mick, WWE stars respond to Foley’s Post
Mick Foley made his WWF debut in the mid-'90s. His first-ever match in the organization was in 1996, and he went on to put on some of the most memorable spectacles in the history of the sport until he retired from the industry just 4 years later in 2000. In 2012 he made a return to the WWE as a surprise contestant in the famed Royal Rumble, which ultimately would be his last appearance in the ring.
Foley earned himself a WWE Hall of Fame induction a year later in 2013 for his character work on the likes of “Mankind” and “Cactus Jack” during his tenure with the company.
There was an outpouring of support for Foley after the accident announcement including messages from former WWE colleagues, and celebrity fans. Former Olympic medalist and WWE star Kurt Angle was one of the first wrestlers to share his well wishes,
“You’ve actually did more damage in The ring than with that car. GOD Bless you Mick.”
Dean Mojo Muhtadi, another former member of the company’s roster wrote,
“Only you could walk out of a car in that shape and be mostly fine. Prayers up sir. Hope you’re recovering quickly and painlessly.”
Will Sasso, of MADtv and Young Sheldon fame also extended his well wishes for Foley’s recovery,
“Praying for your full recovery, Mick. ❤️”
It’s clear that countless people who’ve watched or known Foley over the years have a tremendous amount of love and respect for the former wrestler who was always willing to put it all on the line for the fans. At a time where he needs the support, his impact on the sport and the people involved in it has earned him the extension of kind words he’s receiving amidst his recovery.
