Rachel Zegler's Snow White has just hit theaters and the actress has been very active in promoting the film and talking about it publicly post and pre release, even embracing the controversies and criticism the film has found itself in.
Zegler has issued several statements post release, expressing gratitude for the role and opening up on her experience on set. One such video shows the actress giving a short speech when the film was getting wrapped on set, as she emotionally expressed her gratitude for the cast and for joining forces to create the project. In the video she is heard saying:
"I'm really really thankful that so many of you have been with us for three summers..Or if you were here for two, or just back for this one, you're a part of such an important family to me and this has been such a hard, wonderful journey, and I’m so thankful to have been on it with you all.”
The actress has been consistent with her expression of love for the film as she recently also took to Instagram and wrote about the "life-changing experience" the film gave her. In another statement issued by Disney, the actress emotionally says:
"Coming to the end of this road of this release feels really crazy because when you spend so much time with something, it becomes such a big part of you and a big part of your heart. Snow White has really been that way for me and to see this is really emotional for me.....I love her and I am so glad to see that so many of you love her as well,"
She then goes on to talk about how the new film changed the meaning of 'fair' as it now stood for the Princess' fair treatment of her subjects rather than her skin color. Zegler adds:
"I hope that you walk away from this film understanding what the true meaning of fair is. I really hope that for the world as well. Thank you so much for allowing me to be your Snow White. It means the world to me."
Rachel Zegler as Snow White

Zegler's journey as Snow White has been nothing short of tumultuous as the actress underwent severe criticism for being cast as Snow White in the film because of her Latin ethnicity. This criticism only exacerbated when her statements for the film came out, where she criticized the original 1937 movie and promoted a more woke version of the Disney fairytale.
Snow White opened to a mere $16 million, and made $43M domestically and, $87.3M globally. Compared to other live action projects Disney has put out, it's a disappointing amount and joins Mulan in becoming the second lowest opening for a film centering around a Disney Princess.
Snow White is available in theaters now.
