The current state of the MCU is uncertain as fans have raised questions surrounding various characters' futures in the forthcoming films the studio will release. As new characters continue to enter the MCU, the fates of the existing and old characters have also borne multiple questions.

Addressing one such question about his character Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, Chris Pratt gave fans a hint on whether to expect the Guardian in Avengers: Doomsday or not. Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his show, Pratt said:

“For people who know the Marvel world, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the last time you saw Star-Lord in there. There was a promise that Star-Lord would return. All I can say is we will make good on that promise.”

The promise he is referring to here is, of course, the message that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with, as it said, "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return."

The actor is currently promoting his film The Electric State which is helmed by the Russo Brothers.

More details on Avengers: Doomsday

The film was originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but was later changed to its current title. It will be the fifth Avengers film in the franchise and possibly the most-awaited one after the massive success of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Doomsday will launch Dr. Doom in the franchise, played by Robert Downey Jr., who is making a return after he died as Iron Man. Apart from Downey, the film will star both the teams of the Fantastic Four, consisting of Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic); Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman); Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/The Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing).

The Thunderbolts, which include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes; Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova; David Harbour as Red Guardian; Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent; Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster; Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine will also be part of the film.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by the Russo brothers, who are also being assisted by Stephen McFeely to write the script. Filming will begin this April in London, as the Russo brothers reported, who also added:

“The very nature of my brother’s and my relationship is collaboration. And we know that this moment is as much your moment as it is our moment. Because no story gets told without the help of dozens of dedicated, passionate, partners working hand in hand, building a story together, brick by brick.”

Avengers: Doomsday will most likely come out in 2026 as a part of Marvel's 6th phase.
