Wicked Witch of the West is now thinking of dying her hair white, as Cynthia Erivo recently shared her interest in playing one of the power Marvel characters, Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Halle Berry is one popular name that fans know has played the character in the X-Men films.
Cynthia Erivo was recently nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role during the Screen Actors Guild and NAACP Image Award for her portrayal of Elphaba Thropp in Wicked. Only a few artists have landed nominations for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards (EGOT), and she is among them.
Cynthia Erivo reveals Storm to be her dream role
The actress who accepted the National Board of Review Spotlight Award for her collaboration with Ariana Grande in her latest film says that Storm is one character who is yet to show her true potential. Cynthia Erivo said,
"I really want to play Storm. I know it sounds frivolous but I don’t think we’ve uncovered how grand she is and all of the inner turmoil that she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something like that."
Now that the multiverse is officially manifested in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) so many characters, including the ones from the past films, have a chance to show up. Hugh Jackman would be the latest in this line whom we saw playing a Wolverine variant in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Kevin Feige has already confirmed the involvement of X-Men in future MCU projects but hasn't disclosed who will be joining the grand Secret Wars. Chances of Storm appearing are really high given her major involvement with the mutant crew. But then she wasn't really involved in the Secret Wars, except for the fact that she became the leader of the Extraordinary X-Men.
If Cynthia Erivo does land this role, she will be the sixth to play the role. The other actresses who have portrayed Storm include Susan Dalian, Alexandra Shipp, Kirsten Alter, Halle Berry, and Alison Sealy-Smith.
Many might not know this but the Wicked was involved in one Marvel project called Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, where she voiced the character Dr. Akonam Ojo. Regarding her upcoming projects, we know that she will be reprising her role as Elphaba Thropp in Wicked: For Good.
