Wicked smashed its competition by bagging most nominations at SAG Awards

The SAG (Screen Actors Guild), known for commemorating remarkable performances in film and TV, revealed its 31st annual nominations with Wicked directed by Jon M. Chu, being the first in the lead. As the SAG is Hollywood’s most admired award show, these awards credit the finest actors along with individual accomplishments, which then sets the stage for a much successive award season.

The adaptation of the most beloved staged musical Wicked, which has now surpassed Mamma Mia: The Movie! as the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation at the global box office, has not just charmed its fans all around the world but has also garnered substantial appreciation from the SAG Awards.

Wicked has bagged 5 nominations at the SAG including Best Ensemble and Best Stunt Ensemble which indicates a true testimony to the outstanding cast led by Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), Ariana Grande (Galinda) along with Jonathan Bailey (Prince Fiyero).

The individual cast bagged their individual nominations too for Wicked with – Cynthia Erivo bagging a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Ariana Grande received a nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role Category and Jonathan Baliey received his nomination for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role alongside competitors like Guy Pearce (The Brutalist) and Clarence Maclin (Sing Sing) which displays the cast’s exquisite performances in this iconic retelling of the prequel to The Wizard of Oz.
