Ryan Reynolds' Aviation American Gin got some screen time in the 2018 black comedy A Simple Favor. Though it wasn't really marketing, it might have gotten some extra attention. No more. The film's director, Paul Feig, has a different plan for the film's sequel, where he will be using his own brand, dubbed Artingstall’s Brilliant London Dry Gin.
The film's sequel, called Another Simple Favor, will be premiered at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival first before releasing US-wide. Amazon MGM Studios is distributing it, and it will be available on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025.
Feig thought of doing a simple favor to his gin's brand
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, where the story was mainly focused on the new images of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson, aka Hope and Faith McLanden (Blake Lively), in the A Simple Favor sequel, he threw a bit of light about replacing Reynolds' Aviation with Artingstall’s. He said,
"There's no more Aviation. This movie is all Artingstall's all the time. I'm very proud of my brand. And actually, our bottle is so beautiful that it fits in. It doesn't feel like it doesn't belong. There's never a shortage of martinis in any of my movies."
Ryan Reynolds has slipped his Aviation Gin in films like Red Notice and 6 Underground before. Perhaps the most famous case would be this update he shared for Deadpool 3, where we can see the bottle on a table while Peter "Pete" Wisdom (Rob Delaney) stands beside it. It's not just the gin but his other brands, Mint Mobile, Maximum Effort, and Wrexham AFC, too, that we can see in the image.
It was Blake Lively, who is also Reynolds' wife, who suggested to A Simple Favor director that they use Aviation Gin in the film. Both the celebrities are good friends and as we saw recently, Paul supported her amid the Justin Baldoni case. But then it wasn't just Lively's suggestion; he himself liked the shape of that bottle and thought, why not? In the film, Lively pulls out the gin bottle to bond over with her frenemy, Stephanie.
Ryan Reynold's gin brand is already a popular one, and he can be seen promoting it with fellow celebrities. He once pulled David Beckham and Diddy together to give us a mix of the former's Haig Club Whiskey and the former's DeLeon Tequila. After their reaction, it is crystal clear they won't be trying that ever again.
