The Super Bowl this year displayed a good number of trailers on it's prestigious screen as football fans got to witness an array of sneak peeks from 2025's best films. As Jurassic World: Rebirth, F1, and Thunderbolts made an appearance, fans couldn't spot one film that many had hoped would show up at the big game. And it's Jon M. Chu's Wicked: For Good.
The sequel to the highly acclaimed Broadway adaptation was one of the top contenders this year to get featured at the Super Bowl and drop some fresh looks on the project. However, there's a logical reason behind this exclusion, as Chu sat down with Screen Rant and discussed exactly why.
The director said:
"I can't say when we're getting the trailer. [Laughs] All I can say is that, in order for me to have gotten a trailer for the Super Bowl, I would've had to turn over visual effects to be done by now so many months ago when we were still in the middle of edits. There were technical difficulties that prevented us, but we have a lot coming out, so stay tuned. I can't say anything else, though!"
Most likely, Wicked: For Good does not yet have a finished product of the film, which explains why it's too early for Chu to show trailers from the film. Regardless, the trailer for Wicked: For Good is one of the most highly anticipated ones in the year and will most likely drop soon.

It was announced even before Wicked was released that the film would be divided into two parts to give it more space to tell the story. Explaining his decision, Chu previously told social media:
“With more space, we can tell the story of Wicked as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”
After the massive success of the first film, fans were excited to unravel what the next chapter in the film holds and what it would mean for their beloved Glinda and Elphaba. The original cast is returning for their roles in the sequel and they have shared a few details here and there about the film.
Ariana Grande has previously noted that Wicked: For Good is darker than its predecessor and has hinted that this one would return with a lot more songs. It will also delve deeper into Glinda and Elphaba's relationship, while Grande has also hinted that there might be some sapphic tension between them.
Wicked: For Good will hit theaters on November 21, 2025
