Why was Sean Diddy Combs bail denied again? Judge Arun Subramaniam rejects request for third time

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied a bail for the third time by the US District judge Arun Subramaniam citing that if he is released, then he poses “a serious risk of witness tampering.”

He said,

"The Court finds that the government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community."

On concluding his statement, the judge added, "There is compelling evidence of Combs's propensity for violence" and that if released while awaiting trial, "there is evidence supporting a serious risk of witness tampering."

The denial follows Bad Boy Records co-founder’s arrest in September after his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against him accusing him of s*xual assault and abuse.

According to a report by BBC, Combs is charged with racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn in New York.

“This is a case about violence,” Slavik told Subramanian in a final plea to keep Combs locked up.

“The defendant has engaged in physical, sexual and emotional abuse of his romantic partners for years. ... He’s hit. He’s kicked. He’s dragged.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik told Subramanian.

The report further adds that prosecutors have accused him of misusing jail communications in order to influence the witness in his case and coerced others in his orbit to gain public’s support to benefit his defence. As per a report by People Magazine, other evidence of violence included video footage, text messages from victims, and seized firearms with defaced serial numbers.


What did Sean “Diddy” Combs’s third bail proposal mention?

Sean “Diddy” Comb’s defense lawyers argued to release him on $50 million bail package, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The third bail proposal also included his release under strict conditions that would have confined him to his Manhattan apartment with GPS tracking. He was also allowed limited visitors excluding female guests, except for family members and continuous monitoring by private security personnel.

Two other judges cited multiple reasons that subjected to Sean “Diddy” Combs’s bail denial in the past.

He faced multiple serious charges against him including s*x trafficking, racketeering, forced labor, and obstruction of justice. He awaits his trial scheduled in May 2025.

The court also believed that Combs poses a flight risk due to his substantial financial resources which could facilitate evasion of his legal consequences.

His involvement in witness tampering that he allegedly used another inmate’s phone accounts to communicate with individuals who could provide testimony against him.

He violated jail protocols while illegally trying to conduct social media campaigns to influence public and potential jurors.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing in response to the allegations against him as his legal team asserts that the s*xual activities were consensual.
