More details from Morgan Wallen's conversation on the This Past Weekend podcast
Last week, before his appearance on the podcast on April 2, Morgan Wallen courted controversy during his SNL appearance by walking off the stage even as the end credits were rolling. Traditionally, this is when the invited guest interacts with the cast of the show, but Wallen's sudden exist left SNL cast members surprised. He later posted a Instagram Story with the caption:
"Get me to Gods's country."
While speaking on This Past Weekend podcast, he emphasized how his fame has affected his ability to go wherever he wants .
"It's not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don't get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might. There's things that you just don't do. There's just things you don't do anymore."
Morgan Wallen added:
"It's definitely the best thing for me. I mean, if you're using a bar as a specific example, that's definitely, that's definitely, the best thing for me. I ain't been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about,"
The Cowgirls singer was arrested on April 7, 2024, after a drunken incident. People obtained court records that stated:
He was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
On April 20, 2024, Morgan Wallen posted a message on X, reflecting on his intoxicated behavior. He wrote:
"I didn't feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility."
In a separate post the same day, he added:
"I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change."
At his December court hearing, Morgan Wallen pleaded conditional guilty and was ordered to pay $350. He was also sentanced to seven days at a DUI detention centre and was placed on two years of probation.
The Last Night singer was previously arrested in 2020 for disorderly conduct at a Nashville bar, but the charges against him were later dropped. According to a report by NBC News in May 2020, Wallen apologized on X (formerly Twitter) for his actions, saying:
"Hey y'all just wanted to clear the air. I went out downtown last night with a few old friends. After a couple bar stops, we were horse-playing with each other. We didn't mean any harm, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone that was affected."
During his conversation on the This Past Weekend podcast, the I Had Some Help singer discussed why he now prefers going hunting with his friends, rather than visiting a bar.
"I can go be with my buddies. I can be in the middle of nowhere. I can be at ease. I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?"
Back in 2020, Morgan Wallen's appearance on Saturday Night Live was cancelled when he was found violating existing COVID-19 restrictions.
