Five members linked to OTF, a popular hip-hop group formed by Chicago rapper Lil Durk, have been cuffed over claims that they tried to put a hit out on rapper Quando Rondo in LA in August 2022, due to his purported involvement in the 2020 murder of King Von.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the indictment came to light on Thursday in the U.S. Central District Court of California. Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston have been hit with charged with federal crimes. Lil Durk has not been named a defendant.

The five men allegedly wanted "money and lucrative music opportunities with OTF”

The five OTF men have been hit with the following: conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death. Should they be found guilty, at the most, penalization includes execution.

According to TMZ, the shooting in 2022 can be traced back to the incident in November 2020 in Atlanta, where Lul Timm, an associate of Quando, whose real name is Tyquian Bowman, pulled out a gun and shot King Von to death on November 6, 2020, outside a hookah bar in Atlanta, following an altercation that broke out between the two.

King Von, whose legal name is Dayvon Bennett, was one of three killed that day. Following his death, per the indictment, an unnamed co-conspirator offered “money and lucrative music opportunities with OTF” to anyone who stepped up and took out Quando Rondo.

Per the Chicago Sun-Times, the attempt to kill was ostensibly premeditated, given that the alleged OTF members placed a bounty on Quando's head and used one of the label's credit cards to purchase flight tickets from Chicago to Los Angeles to take him out after they learned of his location.

Furthermore, they paid for rental cars, while Grant opted for a private jet that flew him in from Miami to spearhead the schemes. He then ensured that hotel rooms were waiting for them as he procured the firearms. While the target himself was not wounded in the shooting, his 24-year-old cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was shot to death.

The former was sitting in his Black Cadillac along with his sister, both of whom escaped death at the time. Per TMZ, a shaken-up Quando struggled to speak with the investigators at the scene of the crime, while the alleged OTF members absconded the following day.

On Thursday, October 24, all five men were apprehended, following which, they were made to show up in court for the first time at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse. It was there that a judge ruled for the men to be detained, pending trial.

The prosecution is of the belief that all five men were heavily linked with OTF, aka Only the Family, a group founded by Lil Durk, one of the major players in Chicago's hip-hop scene. The group deals with producing and selling drill raps procured from Chicago-based artists. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, King Von was a high-ranking member of the group.

Lil Durk turned himself in back in May 2019, following a February 2019 warrant that called for his arrest. A Fulton County, Georgia judge decided to charge Durk with criminal attempt to commit murder, as well as aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

However, the charges were dropped by Georgia’s Superior Court of Fulton County in October 2022. At the time, according to District Attorney Fani T. Willis, the District Attorney decided against prosecuting, citing “prosecutorial discretion" as their reasoning.
