Josh Webber sued Dame Dash in a $4 million defamation suit in April 2024 for making defamatory comments about him during an Earn Your Leisure podcast appearance, as per court documents obtained by TMZ.

In a recent court judgment, Dash has been ordered to pay $4 million. Webber claims Dame said to hosts Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings on the podcast:

"I had a judgement. And I knew this d***head Chris Brown and Josh Webber and Muddy Waters...Chris Brown the lawyer. I went through four trials with the same lawyer...What I lost was defamation because these guys trigger me and steal my s***...you think there is freedom of speech, it's really not."

In the podcast, Dash also claimed that he believed Webber stole from him in their dispute over the film Dear Frank. Dash had to pay Webber and the Dear Frank movie producers over $800,000 after losing the rights. Webber claimed that due to Dash's allegations on the podcast, which was viewed by hundreds of thousands of people, his lucrative $4 million film gig was canceled.

Webber was set to direct and produce a film starring Billy Bob Thornton.

More about Josh Webber's lawsuit against Dame Dash

Earlier, Dame Dash was hit with a default judgment on February 18 in his ongoing lawsuit with filmmaker Josh Webber. However, Judge John F. Walter noted that Dash had failed to follow basic courtroom procedures, as he did not file key legal documents, dodged court-ordered mediation, and ignored deadlines.

Walter then set a deadline of March 3 for Webber and his legal team to submit proof of damages caused by Dash's behavior.

Dash had initially worked on Dear Frank but was later removed from the film project due to allegations of unprofessional behavior on set. However, despite his exit, he continued to promote the film as his own and tried to sell it under the title The List, as per AllHipHop.

This isn't the first lawsuit against Dame Dash. Earlier, Edwyna Brooks won a judgment against the American entrepreneur in 2020. As per the New York Post, Edwyna's lawsuit noted that Dash had allegedly been hiding his money to avoid paying her after a failed countersuit that he filed.

50 Cent also commented on Dash’s situation, posting about the entrepreneur’s tendency to talk too much. He said:

"Dame run his mouth to much but check out America Nu. I don't like the s*** he said but I don't care to see him f****ed up."
