Marvel's highly awaited upcoming project, Fantastic Four: First Steps, is eyeing its finishing touches soon as the film undergoes its final reshoot and is all set to release in July. Based on Marvel's First Family, the film will kick off four of the central characters in the MCU, who will have significant roles in the upcoming phases of the studios. With a promising trailer, a stunning cast, and powerful visuals, this one is certainly going to be quite a ride!

Along with the heroes of the film, its villains have also been a part of much buzz as many have theorized about the antagonists in the comic series and if they will make their way to the screens. In the original comics, the Fantastic Four face off against Doctor Doom (a character that will be played by Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday). But in this one, the ensemble of four will be facing off against Galactus, the cosmic entity known for his chaos.

Talking about the decision to not have Doom as the villain, Matt Shakman, director of Fantastic Four: First Steps, told Entertainment Weekly,

"Doom's a great character, but he takes up a lot of air. Other film adaptations have done both an origin story and Doom. We're doing neither, and that allows us to look at them from a fresh perspective."

He then talked about why he chose to have Ralph Ineson portray Galactus instead of using CGI on the character, adding,

"I didn't want to just use motion-capture for Galactus. I wanted to actually have someone there embodying the part. So we've built an entire costume for him, and we've done a lot of photography testing to figure out, How do you make sure that the scale is correct? How do you film Mount Rushmore?"

Where is Fantastic Four: First Steps set in?

Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, and Benn Grimm aka The Thing, Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to be a visual delight, thanks to its retro-futuristic setting.

As explained by Shakman on EW, the 37th film in the MCU is set in the 1960s—but not the one we know. Rather than taking place on the same Earth as The Avengers, the Fantastic Four's story is set in a parallel universe within the Marvel multiverse, where history is significantly different. In this timeline, the futuristic dreams of advanced scientific innovations aren’t just ideas. They’re reality.

The trailer shows promising visuals of an advanced, but set in the past, world where innovation and science have been brought together to fulfill dreams. At the center of it all is Reed Richards, the brilliant mind turning those utopian visions into actual inventions.

Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to hit theaters on July 25th.
