Dua Lipa canceled her Radical Optimism tour stop in Jakarta due to unexpected safety and logistical concerns related to the stage. The 29-year-old singer expressed her deep disappointment about not being able to perform as planned at the Indonesia Arena on November 9, 2024 evening. Taking to her Instagram story, the singer wrote,

“I am heartbroken to share that I won't be able to perform in Jakarta this Saturday, November 9. I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform, but I am gutted to share that it has been determined that it is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging.”

She continued,

“I was so looking forward to this night, and it truly pains me that we cannot perform for you all, especially after such a long time since my last performance in Jakarta. Refunds will be made from your point of purchase. I love you all and truly can't wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible.”

Organizers TEM Presents and PK Entertainment announced the cancellation, attributing it to “unforeseen safety and logistical issues.” The statement explained that while Dua Lipa was fully prepared to perform, unresolved issues with the stage structure provided by Mata Elang Productions made it unsafe to proceed.

They expressed that the decision to cancel was made for the safety of both fans and the artist. They also apologized to fans who had anticipated the event, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by this decision.

Dua Lipa’s tour will now head to the Philippines and other places

Following her recent performance in Singapore, Dua Lipa’s tour will now bypass Indonesia and continue to the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand. She launched her Radical Optimism tour in November 2024, six months after the release of her third album, which shares the same title.

The album was born out of her desire to focus on the positive aspects of her life experiences, even the difficult ones. In a March 2024 interview with Variety, Dua Lipa shared that the record was shaped by her approach to learning from every situation, seeing challenges as lessons or gifts. She emphasized how even negative experiences can lead to growth and personal strength.

Dua Lipa also expressed that she values staying open-hearted, even when things don’t go as planned, and refuses to let setbacks close her off emotionally. While speaking about her album, she said,

“Radical optimism, in itself, felt like something that really resonated with me over the past few years. It felt like even through my last record and into the new one, it was just so much about learning from every experience, taking everything as a lesson or seeing it as a gift in some way, whether it was good or whether it was bad.."

Dua Lipa, who won the Brit Award for Best Pop Act in March 2024, has topped the charts with her second and third albums, Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism, reaching number one.

This achievement followed her memorable performance at the Glastonbury Festival earlier this year, where she delivered a series of hit songs on the Pyramid Stage, including These Walls, Break My Heart, Hallucinate, Electricity, Physical, and Don’t Start Now.
