After much speculation, Trinity Rodman and Ben Shelton have officially confirmed their relationship with an Instagram post. The USWNT forward, daughter of Michelle Moyer and five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman, sparked dating rumors earlier this month when the pair exchanged messages on TikTok. Less than a week later, the world No. 14 shared a series of pictures on Instagram, with the final slide featuring a mirror selfie of Rodman kissing Shelton on the cheek.

In the caption, he quoted lyrics from Lil Baby and EST Gee's song "Back and Forth":

I been focused, but I’m steady climbin’, I’m nowhere near my peak."

The Olympic gold medalist also confirmed her side of the relationship by commenting on Ben Shelton's post. She wrote:

"Shooters shoot I guess🤭👀"

Fellow tennis players Coco Gauff, Sloane Stephens, and Frances Tiafoe commented on the post.

"hard launchhhhh!!!" Gauff commented.

"HARDD LAUNCH!!!!!" said Stephens.

While Tiafoe wrote: "We gram now"

Trinity Rodman was born to Michelle Moyer and Dennis Rodman. According to People magazine, the couple met in 1999 and had two children: Dennis Rodman Jr., born in 2001, and Trinity, born in 2002. They married in 2003, but Moyer filed for divorce in 2004. People magazine reports that the couple tried to make their relationship work but ultimately divorced in 2012.

Dennis Rodman is an NBA legend who has been married three times and has had high-profile relationships, including with Madonna. In addition to his children with Moyer, he has a daughter, Alexis Rodman, from his marriage to Annie Bakes.

Being the daughter of one of the most celebrated players in NBA history, Trinity has always tried to pave her own path.

Shortly after getting drafted by the Washington Spirit, the player said to CNN:

"He was an amazing athlete, and I got those genes from him, but I'm excited to be known as Trinity Rodman and not just as Rodman's daughter. I'm excited to pave my own path and get better throughout this journey."

While appearing on the Call her Daddy podcast, Rodman reflected on the difficult relationship with her father.

"He's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else. Me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we've talked about it and very unselfish. We never want to make him look bad and that is at the cost of holding in a lot of issues that we've gone through and trauma."

In response to this interview, Dennis Rodman posted a lengthy apology on Instagram, which has since been deleted, stating that he will try to be a better father to his children.

"Sorry I wasn't the Dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still Try and Never will Stop. I will keep Trying even when you're being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls. I will try even when it's difficult and if it takes a long time."

On the other hand, in a 2021 interview with The Guardian, Trinity explained the important role of her mother in her life. She said:

"Having a dad like I do, no one asks about my mom because she’s obviously not an NBA star. But I just want people to know that my mom’s been my support system in everything in life ... She’s an extremely strong woman. She’s my role model,”

In a 2022 interview with ESPN, Michelle Moyer, who has a daughter, Teyana Lima, from her previous marriage, revealed that an accident prompted her to file for divorce in 2004.

"I'm blessed to be alive. But I knew that I couldn't take it anymore,” she explained. “I needed to be there for my kids. I decided to divorce and be done with the Dennis stuff. That was it for me"

Michelle raised her children alone. Both of her children have candidly talked about the difficult moments she faced while raising them.

"We didn't have a house or a car. And that's not the most ideal situation to be in with a family. But our mom made it fun. That was probably the hardest time in our lives. Michelle Moyer, who was once an athlete herself, inspired Trinity's passion for sports.

"I mean firstly just as a human, she’s raised me, my brother and my sister to be the best people we can be. I definitely got my sprinting, my acceleration from her.” said Trinity during a 2023 interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Trinity, who shares a close bond with her mother, often posts pictures with her and also wishes her on her birthday on Instagram. She said:

“I love you so much mommy thanks for being u, and being my #1 supporter and best friend❤️ ur so amazing and loving wouldn’t want anyone else to help me through life,”

Trinity Rodman was previously linked to NFL player Trinity Benson, but the pair went their separate ways sometime last year.
