Founded by Jesse Colin Young, The Youngbloods was an American rock band active in the rock scene from 1965 to 1972. The band was formed when successful folk singer, Jesse Colin Young, met Jerry Corbitt, and the two became a duo, with the name, The Youngbloods. They went on to add more members, Lowell Levinger, Joe Bauer, Michael Kane and David Perper.

Jesse Colin Young, died at his home in Aiken, S.C. on March 17, as per his publicist Michael Jensen's announcement to the New York Times. A cause of death has not been announced but the singer was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in 2009 after he had "probably had it for 20 years before that."

While speaking to the LA Times, Jensen mentioned:

"He was an incredibly active guy. He was a client for many, many years, but more importantly, he was one of the nicest people on the entire planet. He was a great human being, and I'm heartbroken."

Young was 83 at the time of his death and was known for singing the 60s anthem Get Together. The track reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1969 and was released two years later as the band's self-titled debut album. The band broke up in 1972.

Jesse Colin Young was the founding member of The Youngbloods and also the singer, bassist, and primary songwriter. The band gained recognition for their song, Get Together, which became a folk-rock anthem, known for capturing the spirit of peace and unity in the 1969s counterculture moment.

After the band broke up in 1972, Jesse, went on to have a successful solo career on his own and continued working on music that blended folk, jazz, and rock.

The artist worked on music and toured before stopping in 2010 when he considered his career was over. However, the artist was back in 2016. While looking back at his come-back, Jesse said that he had "no intention of going back":

"I really had no intention of going back: I was just burned out on it and I thought well, 50 years is probably enough."

He revealed that attending his son Tristan's graduation from Berklee College of Music, inspired him to return to music again.
