Steve Sarowitz, billionaire entrepreneur, philanthropist, and movie producer, is facing scrutiny over allegations of a retaliation campaign against actress Blake Lively regarding a recent controversy.
Sarowitz, who owns one-half of the Wayfarer Studios with actor and filmmaker Justin Baldoni, is known to be a purpose-driven filmmaker and global humanitarian.
Sarowitz is the founder and chairman of Paylocity, a leading payroll and human resources solutions provider. He has expanded his business globally through companies like Blue Marble and Payescape.
Outside of his corporate career, Sarowitz is a dedicated philanthropist and practicing member of the Bahá’í faith. He is working with the Julian Grace Foundation to facilitate global appeal for peace, unity, and universal education.
Sarowitz allegedly made a troubling statement at the New York premiere of the film It Ends With Us. It was reported by USA Today that he stated a willingness to spend a sum of $100 million to "ruin" Lively and her family.
This incident has come to light due to the ongoing feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, related to a smear campaign and an alleged sexual assault case.
The legal documents filed by Lively blames Baldoni and his Wayfarer co-owner Steve Sarowitz for starting a smear campaign against her in an attempt to silence her appeal for justice against misconduct experienced during the filming of the It Ends With Us movie.
More about Blake Lively's allegations against Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively has accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and initiating a smear campaign in response to Lively’s complaints about inappropriate conduct.
In a legal complaint submitted to the California Civil Rights Department, Lively claimed that Baldoni subjected her to unwanted sexual talk and body shaming (BBC).
The allegations also involve claims that Baldoni’s team orchestrated a smear campaign through public relations specialists, who allegedly planted negative stories in media outlets to damage Lively’s reputation.
The complaint details texts between Baldoni’s representatives about how to bury Lively and shift the narrative against her. Blake Lively also alleged that Baldoni hired crisis PR companies to publish damaging content on social media.
Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, remarked that the allegations were “false, outrageous and deliberately exaggerated.” In a statement to The New York Times, he said the lawsuit was part of a “rehash narratives in the media” to paint Baldoni in a bad light.
