Shannon Sharpe, the NFL Hall of Famer turned media personality, has long kept his romantic life private. Although the former Denver Broncos tight end is known for both his athletic exploits and commentary on programs such as First Take and Club Shay Shay, his recent controversy involving sexual assault allegations has brought the spotlight to his previous relationships.
Sharpe, 56, has come under scrutiny after being sued by a woman who says she is his ex-girlfriend. The unnamed accuser, identified in court as Jane Doe, accuses Sharpe of having s*xually assaulted her during their relationship, which started when she was allegedly 20 and he was 53.
Shannon Sharpe, who has never been married, has three children. With ex-girlfriend Erika Evans, he shares a son, Kiari. Evans accused Sharpe of a domestic dispute at his house in 2004, but the case was dropped after mediation.
Sharpe has two daughters, Kayla and Kaley, although he has never publicly announced the identity of their mothers.
One of Shannon Sharpe’s most high-profile romances was with fitness trainer and nutrition coach Katy Kellner. The two went on to date for several years, and Kellner even attended Sharpe’s Hall of Fame breakfast in 2011.
The Denver Post called her his “longtime girlfriend” at the time. The couple later broke up, and Kellner then married and divorced the MLB player Marlon Byrd.
Rumors of a romantic relationship between Sharpe and Nicole Murphy, a model and the ex-wife of Eddie Murphy, sparked in 2017. The speculation was fueled by a gym selfie the two of them took together. Murphy later explained on the Comedy Hype podcast that they never dated, and they only met by coincidence when they both attended a fitness class.
More about Shannon Sharpe’s response to recent allegations and Charlamagne tha God’s Criticism
On a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne criticized Shannon Sharpe’s choice to date someone so young. He said men needed to be more disciplined and stable when it comes to dating women.
"I ain't talking about just Shannon, I'm just talking about all of us in general. Men need discipline and security... Find you one woman and settle your a** down."
Charlamagne even pointed out the fact that Shannon Sharpe was too old to be getting mixed up in such controversies and allegations.
Shannon Sharpe is going public with his response to a $50 million civil suit alleging he raped a woman, referring to it as a "shakedown" in an Instagram video.
The suit has been brought by a woman known only as Jane Doe, who is represented by Tony Buzbee, a man who Sharpe says is waging a coordinated attack against him and other powerful Black men, including Jay-Z. Sharpe said he intends to sue for defamation and stressed that the encounter in question was consensual.
"Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty, and plays into every stereotype you could possibly imagine." He added.
