Sega Bodega is accusing Lil Nas of ripping off the cover of his 2021 track Angel On My Shoulder with his forthcoming track Light Again!

Lil Nas took to X yesterday to promote a teaser, alongside the cover image. Sega Bodega caught wind of the eerie similarities in no time, and he retweeted the post with some cutthroat words:

"not even trying to put a spin on it is where I’m like yeesh.”

In a follow-up tweet, Bodega tweeted,

"anyway stream ‘Angel on my shoulder.'"

Lil Nas X, on the other hand, captioned his post with the following:

"it just dawned on me how lucky i am to have all of you that still f**k with me. bc i know it isn’t always easy! dreamboy isn’t just an album, it’s me coping with the loss of what once was and fighting for a new world. im so excited to bring you on the journey."

Here's all you need to know about Sega Bodega

Sega Bodega, aka Salvador Navarrete, is an Irish-born singer, producer, and songwriter. He also serves as the co-head of the NUXXE record label. He released his debut album in 2020, named after himself, Salvador. It debuted with limited edition vinyl records and was a massive success.

In 2020, he teamed up with Låpsley to produce the trance-inspired single Make U Stay. It was once named Guardian’s Single of the Week, and on Spotify, the three-minute track has garnered over 4 million plays. The London-based artist has also had stints with artists like Björk, Rosalía, and Caroline Polachek.

Angel on My Shoulder came out in 2021, and the Dance/Electronic song has already garnered over 1 million streams on Spotify.

All about the Lil Nas X and Sega Bodega controversy

In both pictures, the artists themselves can be seen sitting in the corner of their rooms in front of an OG desktop computer. The wood-paneled rooms are dimly lit, while a figure emanating bright light stands behind them. In Sega Bodega's image, it's a woman, and her hand is over his shoulder. In Lil Nas X's, a man stands away, looking over his shoulder.

Notably, Lil Nas X conceded that Bodega's artwork was the inspiration when he took to Instagram stories to add the same, noting that it was his "ref." However, Bodega was apparently unhappy as he weighed in on the same on X:

"‘Look he did credit you in a photo that will disappear in 24 hours forever and no name whatsoever of artist or photographer! Be grateful!' You lot sound insane," he said.

He continued, replying to a fan who accused him of being ungrateful. The fan also asserted that if they were Lil Nas X, they wouldn't credit Sega Bodega at all, and would instead "pretend its [theirs]." Here's what Bodega said:

"can’t tell if this is a very good joke or not cause that’s literally what he did ahahah there is no credit."

Lil Nas X announced his new album era Dreamboy is imminent, and Light Again is slated to debut on November 15.
