Samantha Quan, producer of the comedy-drama film, Anora, was one of the actors in the 2003 romantic comedy flick, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Many cinephiles currently regret not noticing the producer playing a character in the Kate Hudson starrer rom-com. Now, the netizens are curious to find which character Samantha Quan played in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

The 49-year-old producer, Samantha Quan, played the character of Lori, who was Andie Anderson's (played by Kate Hudson) colleague and one of the writers at 'Composure', the fictional magazine company in the movie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. It was an Instagram user, named Lizzie Logan, who first pointed this out about Quan in a video she shared on March 3, 2025.

Samantha Quan is married to writer, editor, and director Sean Baker, who bagged the Academy Award for Best Director. Quain produced Anora along with his husband and Alex Coco. However, it was not her first time producing films for Baker. She is also the producer of Baker's other movies like Red Rocket (2021), The Florida Project (2017) and the short film Snowbird (2016).

Besides being a producer for her husband, Quan, has also been an actress for quite some time now. The actress/producer is originally from Vancouver, Canada. Later, she shifted to the US to pursue her higher education at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts and completed her master's in 2001.

Quan began her acting career in television. She played numerous minor roles in various TV shows. Not to mention, she was also into theatre and has experience as a stage actor. Not many people know this, but Samantha was the acting coach for Bria Vinaite's role in the indie-drama film, The Florida Project.

Besides her role as Lori in the 2003 rom-com, Samantha Quan has been a part of several popular TV shows such as NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, Elementary and Castle.

Sean Baker had his career defining moment at the 2025 Academy Awards, where his film Anora won five Oscars for Best Director, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture. He became the first person to have won four Oscars for the same movie. One might say he set a new record, the kind that is hard to break.

Producer, Samantha Quan, accepted the Best Picture Oscar for Anora and poured out her heart saying:

"We made this film with very little money but all of our hearts,"

She further added:

"To all of the dreamers and the young filmmakers out there: tell the stories you want to tell. Tell the stories that move you. I promise you, you will never regret it."

Anora(2024) follows the character of Anora 'Ani' Makheeva (played by Mikey Madison), a stripper and s*x worker who meets Vanya (played by Mark Eydelshteyn), the son of a billionaire Russian oligarch. They fall in love and get married in Vegas. Later, when Vanya's parents find out about their marriage, everything goes for a toss.

Samantha Quan in a recent interview with The Canadian Press, talked about how she and her husband, Baker, intended to "destigmatize" the s*x worker community. She also shared that they spoke to numerous s*x workers over the years, and came across numerous beautiful and heartbreaking stories.
