Who is Richard Gere’s son Homer Gere? What we know as father-son duo make rare appearance

Richard Gere, 75 years old now, was recently spotted with his son Homer Gere and wife Alejandra Gere at the City Harvest Presents The 2025 Gala: Carnaval at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on Tuesday, April 22.

Homer Gere is son of the American actress and former model, Carey Lowell. Richard Gere and Lowell had tied the knot in November 2002. They separated in 2013, after 11 years of marriage.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the Pretty Woman star, expressed his gratitude for the time he can spend with his eldest child, Homer Gere, who is now 25 years old.

"I always love being with my son," shared Richard.

"If we're out in the woods walking, if we're here doing something good for other people, I'm always happy to see him." he added.

When his son Homer was only two years old, the Primal Fear star shared his admiration, describing his son as both athletic and intelligent, in a report shared by The Guardian. He explains that his son is the joy of his life.

"Pretty quick he learned irony, which is a wonderful quality for any human being." expressed Richard.

In a 2015 interview with Hindustan Times, Richard was asked about his process for signing a film and if his family had any involvement in the same.

"My film decisions are mostly mine, but I’m very careful about not being away from my son, Homer James Jigme Gere, for very long. So, if I have to be away for long I talk to him about it, and if there is a problem, I don’t take up the project. And I have done that. Your family is more important than anything" he explained.

In a report shared by PEOPLE, Homer James Jigme Gere’s name pays tribute to both sides of his family: “Homer” for Richard Gere’s father, and “James” for Carey Lowell’s. The middle name, “Jigme,” has Tibetan roots and translates to “fearless,” reflecting Gere’s deep connection to Buddhism.

In a Vanity Fair Spain interview in April 2024, Richard shared that his family hasn’t watched much of his work. He was then asked, if his son, Homer Gere had any idea about his dad’s stardom.

"He doesn't understand. And it's also very difficult for him to watch me on screen because, even if I play an extreme character, I'm still his father, and it's hard for him to get into the story. It just so happens that he's just started acting too. He's suddenly taken to it and seems to enjoy it. He's been writing and directing small films, so we have this new thing in common." explained Richard.

After completing his studies in psychology and visual arts, Homer Gere graduated from Brown University in 2024. His academic work extended into the university’s School of Public Health, where he served as a research assistant in the Therapeutic Neuroscience Lab, as stated on his LinkedIn. His earlier education took place at Hackley School in New York.
