As Graydon Carter retired, bigshot editor-in-chief Radhika Jones took over the top position at Vanity Fair in 2017. It seems Radhika has bigger plans and wants to face bigger challenges as she has decided to step down as Vanity Fair's editor-in-chief. Her news of leaving the Condé Nast publication came as quite a surprise to all the staffers.

Carter was the editor-in-chief for 25 long years and was succeeded by Jones, who came over to Vanity Fair from The New York Times, where she was the editor of the books section. She has previously worked for the Paris Review and Time. Jones will be leaving her office at the Vanity Fair in the spring.

On Thursday, April 3, 2025, she dropped an email, which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, to the staffer at the publication, that read:

"Those of you who know me well know that I can be a little restless, once a mission is accomplished. And I have always had a horror of staying too long at the party. So I’ve made the decision to leave Vanity Fair this spring. It was a difficult decision, because it was a tremendous privilege to lead this team."

Most people who keep an eye on the entertainment industry and are up to date with pop culture are familiar with Radhika Jones. However, her personal life remains unknown. Now, the netizens are curious to know all about her.

The 52-year-old journalist and magazine editor, Jones, is married to Max Peterson, who is the owner of MVP Design LLC, which is an architecture firm. Radhika shares a son with Petersen, and they currently live in their $6.25 million home in Brooklyn, New York.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, after Radhika announced the news of her quitting as the Vanity Fair editor-in-chief, the Condé Nast chief content officer, Anna Wintour, in a meeting, said:

"Radhika has shown herself to be as much at home on the red carpet as sitting front row, and has graciously hosted the most legendary party in Hollywood. She has done it all with poise and wit and wisdom."

Wintour further added:

"In the coming weeks, Radhika will be helping us with the transition as we start the search for a new editor. We look forward to Vanity Fair’s exciting next chapter. Radhika, we are so grateful for your high standards of journalism, your fearlessness and your empathetic leadership. You will be much missed."
